Fulham boss Marco Silva is on the radar of both Newcastle United and Leeds as both clubs weigh up a move to replace their under-pressure managers.
Portuguese manager Silva, 48, has been in the dugout at Craven Cottage since July 2021.
Having previously managed Watford, Everton and Hull City, he has plenty of experience in English football.
A popular figure with his current club, Silva broke Fulham’s Premier League points tally last season, ending on 54 points for an 11th-placed finish.
But a poor start to this season has left question marks over his future.
The Cottagers are 15th in the Premier League, just one point above the relegation zone heading into the international break.
Fulham’s hierarchy are therefore believed to be considering his position, particularly given Silva’s reluctance to sign a new contract.

Marco Silva’s Fulham Future In Doubt
A difficult start to the season has increased tensions at the West London club.
Despite Fulham’s desire to extend their manager’s contract, Marco Silva has not yet signed a new deal.
His current deal runs until the summer, but there is growing uncertainty over his future.
Poor results and a precarious position have forced the club to consider if a chance might be necessary.
As a result, two Premier League rivals have emerged as possible destinations, should Fulham part ways with Silva.
Newcastle United’s Awful Away Form Putting Eddie Howe Under Pressure
Another manager under pressure is Newcastle boss, Eddie Howe.
The Magpies sit 14th in the table, and are hugely underachieving given their recent successes.
Newcastle’s concerning away form has been a particular issue so far this season.
They are yet to win on the road in the Premier League this season (D3, L3).
Their only away victory in all competitions came in the Champions League, when they beat a poor Union SG side 4-0 in Belgium.
That is far from good enough for a side expected to be fighting for European football.
Some fans are now asking if Eddie Howe has taken the club as far as he can, and if a change is needed.
Marco Silva has therefore emerged as an option to replace Howe at St. James’ Park, with the latest Newcastle manager odds putting the Portuguese at 10/1 for the job.
Are Leeds United Losing Faith In Daniel Farke?
Meanwhile, noise is growing around Leeds United boss Daniel Farke.
The 49-year-old German manager has taken Leeds back to the Premier League, and they started the season well.
But with four defeats in their last five, Leeds now sit level with Fulham, also one point above the drop zone.
In May, Leeds chairman Paraag Marathe backed Farke to lead the side into the Premier League season, calling Farke “his man”.
Yet as results have slipped and Leeds have struggled, talk about replacing Farke has been building.
The next Leeds manager betting odds indicate Marco Silva has become a leading candidate, with most bookies pricing him around 7/1 to replace Farke.
How Marco Silva Could Fit In At Leeds Or Newcastle
As for how well Marco Silva would fit in at either club, there are plenty of reasons he’d suit Leeds or Newcastle.
At Newcastle, Silva would likely be given a far greater budget on the transfer front, allowing him to show more ambition than he’s been able to at Fulham.
He is no stranger to high-pressure environments, and has been able to extract the maximum from his squads over the years.
From a Leeds perspective, Silva is someone who could come in and steady the ship.
He would bring a clear tactical identity, and has years of experience managing similarly-sized teams.
Silva’s time with Watford and Everton would also benefit both him and Leeds, should he make the switch to Elland Road.
How Likely Is Marco Silva To Leave Fulham Mid-Season?
In order for Marco Silva to end up at one of Leeds or Newcastle mid-season, a number of criteria must align.
Firstly, Fulham must decide to part ways with the Portuguese, which is far from certain.
Then, of course, Newcastle and Leeds must also choose to sack their managers.
All three coaches are under pressure due to poor results. But the instability that comes with a mid-season manager change is high-risk.
Silva’s profile does match the needs of both Newcastle and Leeds, though.
He has a track-record of bringing quick results and turning around struggling sides.
A move to Newcastle would bring more pressure and expectation. Anything but European qualification now represents a failure for the Magpies.
Leeds may be the safer option, then. But poorer financial resources, relegation and a weaker squad are all factors that may put Silva off.
Switching from Fulham to Leeds would probably be seen as a sideways move, whereas Newcastle are a Champions League outfit and a clear step up.
But whatever Fulham decide to do, it’s clear that manager Marco Silva is not short of potential suitors.
