Jannik Sinner Points Record

Jannik Sinner has rounded off his incredible 2025 season by breaking the record for the highest points-winning percentage in ATP history.

Jannik Sinner Breaks Points Winning Percentage Record

By winning 56.45% of the points he’s played in throughout 2025, Jannik Sinner has broken the record for the best points-winning percentage in a single year in the history of the ATP.

The record was previously held by Rafael Nadal, who won 56.07% of his points in 2012.

Sinner breaks the record off the back of winning a second successive Nitto ATP Finals crown, triumphing in the season finale by overcoming ATP Year-End No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz in the final.

The 24-year-old sealed his 11th Big Title without dropping a single set during the tournament.

It caps off an incredible year for the Italian, having also prevailed in two Grand Slams – winning the Australian Open for a second time and winning Wimbledon for the first time.

He lost in the final to his arch-rival Alcaraz in both the French Open and the US Open.

Victories in the China Open, Vienna Open and Paris Masters take his yearly title tally to six.

His record for the season stands at 58-6 (90.63%), while he earned an impressive $19,120,641 (around £14.6m) over the course of the year, topping the ATP Money Leaders rankings.

It takes the former world No. 1 to $56,632,426 (around £43.3m) in career earnings.

Carlos Alcaraz Comments on Jannik Sinner Doping Ban

Of course, it wasn’t all positive for Sinner this year. Back in February, just a month after his Australian Open triumph, Sinner was handed a three-month ban after failing two doping tests.

He denied any wrongdoing and claimed that an anabolic steroid entered his system after his physio used a spray containing the banned substance to treat a cut on his finger.

To avoid a hearing and potentially a longer ban, he settled for a three-month suspension.

This saw him miss several high-profile tournaments, including the Rotterdam Open, Qatar Open, Indian Wells Open, Miami Open, Monte-Carlo Masters and Madrid Open.

Sinner returned to training ahead of the Italian Open, where he lost in the final to Alcaraz, and has dazzled on the court and on screens across the globe ever since.

Sinner Skips Out On Davis Cup

Having led Italy to two consecutive Davis Cup triumphs in 2023 and 2024, Sinner isn’t taking part in the tournament this year. World No. 1 Alcaraz also misses out due to injury.

Sinner, however, made the difficult decision to skip the event for the longevity of his career.

His coach, Gary Cahill, explained the decision in an interview earlier this month.

“There’s been a lot of talk about Jannik not playing the Davis Cup: the decision we made is because we know it could have an effect on him in three or four years.

“We have many responsibilities as his coaches, one of which is that he reaches his peak age of 28/30.

“We love the Davis Cup and would like to play it as much as possible, but the truth is that last year I was the one who told him not to play the Davis Cup, but he wanted to play and defend the title.

“I want you to understand that these decisions are not easy. They are difficult, but they are calculated. Our goal is to make Jannik a better player at 28/30.”

Sinner will return to action after some-much needed respite in the new year.
