Chelsea star Cole Palmer suffered a freak injury last week which has delayed his return – and teammate Marc Cucurella has hinted the bizarre way it happened
The Blues defender has revealed that Palmer fractured his toe by stubbing it against a door at home after losing a game of EA Sports FC.
Cole Palmer Injury Reason Revealed By Marc Cucurella
Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella has revealed the exact reason for Cole Palmer’s freak injury.
Palmer was due to return to training following two months out with a groin injury, but his return has been delayed even further due to suffering a fractured toe after stubbing it against a door in his home.
Since Palmer’s freak injury has come out, Cucurella has hinted that the reason for it was due to the England star losing a game of EA Sports FC.
“I couldn’t believe it,” Cucurella said about Palmer fracturing his toe and delaying his return from injury.
“These things can happen sometimes. We have a couple of times these things, but I’m stronger than them so I don’t feel anything.
“It’s a big upset for us, because he was near to playing with us and training with us. Now he needs to rest.”
When asked if he knew the reason for Palmer’s freak injury, Cucurella revealed that it was due to Palmer’s rage at losing a game of FC25 (formerly FIFA):
“To be fair, I don’t know. He’s running because I think it’s a FIFA game or something like this, I think,” the Spaniard revealed.
Before the start of the season, Palmer surpassed Mohamad Salah as the most owned player in FPL, but many managers were quick to sell the England star after he suffered his groin injury early in the campaign.
Now that Palmer’s return has been delayed even further due to his freak toe injury, FPL managers will have to wait a bit longer to put him back into their respective teams.
Cole Palmer Chelsea Return Delayed Due To Fractured Toe Injury
This freak injury means Palmer missed Chelsea’s 2-0 win at Burnley this past weekend, and also means he will miss at least one more fixture before possibly returning to action.
Palmer has already been ruled out of Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Spanish giants Barcelona, with Blues boss Enzo Maresca also fearing his star man won’t be fit in time for Sunday’s top-two Premier League clash with current pacesetters Arsenal.
The England star has already been side-lined for two months due to a serious groin injury, and his return has been delayed even further after fracturing his toe.
If Palmer missed both the Barcelona and Arsenal clashes, it looks like he could make it back in time for Chelsea’s trip to relegation threatened Leeds United next Wednesday night.
If that is too much of a rush for Palmer to get back to full fitness, then Blues fans can expect to see their star player back in the squad, perhaps even the starting XI, against Bournemouth on Saturday, December 6.
