Manchester United star Kobbie Mainoo could be heading to Italy in search of playing time.
Kobbie Mainoo’s future at Manchester United is entering a critical phase.
Once regarded as one of the club’s brightest young prospects, the 20-year-old now finds himself on the fringes of Ruben Amorim’s squad.
Struggling for minutes and limited to cameo appearances from the bench, he faces a big decision. But the youngster will be reluctant to leave his boyhood club.
However, if he has any hopes of forcing his way back into Thomas Tuchel’s England squad in time for the World Cup, he needs to play.
And with limited options in the Premier League, reports suggest he could be heading to Serie A, with several clubs interested.

Could Kobbie Mainoo Head To Italy In Search Of Playing Time?
Serie A giants Napoli are thought to be keen on Mainoo as a potential replacement for Ballon d’Or nominated Scott McTominay.
The Scotland midfielder has been linked with a return to the Premier League with Newcastle.
As a result, Napoli are considering options to replace him, with Mainoo high on the list.
Meanwhile, Juventus are thought to hold an interest, and are keen to bolster their struggling midfield after a lacklustre start to the campaign.
Elsewhere, La Liga outfit Atlético Madrid are weighing their options as Conor Gallagher edges toward a Premier League return.
Tottenham are leading the race for the La Liga star, who has fallen out of favour with manager Diego Simeone.
Lack Of Opportunity For Kobbie Mainoo Suggests Impending Exit
So far this season, Mainoo has featured just nine times across all competitions.
With just 260 minutes in total, he has been restricted to fleeting appearances from the bench.
For a player regarded as one of United’s top academy graduates, the lack of trust from Amorim is alarming.
The Portuguese coach appears unconvinced by Mainoo, and refuses to rely on him in key moments.
For whatever reason, be it a lack of experience, tactical nous or simply a face that doesn’t fit, Mainoo cannot get a game at Old Trafford right now.
With his development stalling, and England chances dwindling, he may now look for a move in January.
Of course, United are unlikely to let him leave easily. They will demand a big fee for an exciting prospect with such a high ceiling.
A loan move may, therefore, be the best option for all parties, particularly given the urgency with which Mainoo needs to get back playing in order to stake a claim for Tuchel’s squad.

Premier League Clubs Monitoring Mainoo Transfer Latest
Closer to home, Spurs also retain an interest in Mainoo, with both he and Gallagher linked to the North London club.
Tottenham’s midfield of Rodrigo Bentancur and João Palhinha has struggled to provide the control and dynamism that Thomas Frank demands.
Mainoo’s composure on the ball and natural ability to dictate tempo could therefore make him an ideal fit.
And Spurs aren’t the only English club eyeing a move for the United youngster.
Leeds United’s January transfer targets are also thought to include Kobbie Mainoo.
The relegation-threatened side are in desperate need of stability and protection ahead of their back-line.

Mainoo would undoubtedly improve them in that area, but the finances involved could prevent a deal being struck.
A January loan move may be possible, but Mainoo could set his sights higher than a side battling for survival.
For now, the decision rests with Manchester United and the player himself.
Mainoo needs minutes, visibility, and a platform to remind England of what he has to offer.
If those opportunities aren’t available at Old Trafford, he will need to look elsewhere.
January may therefore be coming at the perfect time for him to re-ignite his international ambitions ahead of the World Cup.
