Liverpool’s rapid decline has left the Palace hierarchy nervous, with Glasner emerging as a leading contender to replace Slot if Liverpool opt to part ways with the Dutchman.
Arne Slot has been under mounting pressure after a catastrophic run of results.
And after Wednesday’s 4-1 home defeat by PSV in the Champions League, many are calling for him to go.
Bad news for Liverpool, but it could also spell disaster for Crystal Palace.
Eagles boss Glasner has been tipped as one of the frontrunners to become the next Liverpool manager.
And that possibility has the board at Selhurst Park particularly concerned.
Liverpool’s Collapse Has Crystal Palace Bosses Worried
The Reds’ latest humiliation, at the hands of PSV, was yet another low point in what has quickly become one of the worst runs in club history.
It followed back-to-back 3-0 losses against Nottingham Forest and Manchester City.
Liverpool had not lost three consecutive matches by a three-goal margin in more than 70 years.
But with nine defeats in their last 12 in all competitions, they are on their worst run since 1953.
As a result, they have slumped to 13th in the Champions League and 12th in the Premier League.
Having triumphed in Slot’s first season at Anfield, Liverpool’s title defence now ranks among the worst in Premier League history after 12 games.
The freefall in form under Slot has been alarming.
Fans and pundits are questioning his selections, tactics and motivational ability.
Liverpool are not a club that sack managers mid-season. But if results do not change quickly, they may be left with no choice but to act.
Oliver Glasner Linked To Liverpool Job With Slot Running Out Of Time
That is where Glasner comes in.
The Austrian is one of the Premier League’s most impressive managers, whose stock has risen sharply since taking over at Selhurst Park in 2024.
He has transformed Palace from a side accustomed to playing survival-first football, with a reliance on set-piece, counter attack and long-balls, to one that plays some of the most attractive football in the league.
Palace under Glasner are a well-drilled, free-flowing, and supremely organised outfit.
And his success has not gone unnoticed at Anfield.

His results, including beating Arne Slot’s Liverpool three times in this season alone, have put him firmly on the radar if the Reds’ manager position becomes vacant.
And crucially, Glasner is yet to sign a new deal at Palace.
This makes him a significantly cheaper option than many other candidates, as it would require a far lower compensation fee to buy him out of his remaining contract.
Understandably, Palace are concerned. Glasner has been at the heart of their impressive rise from relegation battlers to FA Cup winners.
Losing him would be a blow, but to be robbed of their manager mid-season would be disastrous.
And it could lead to further headaches.
Landing Glasner Could Help Liverpool Sign Marc Guehi
There is added worry among Palace’s ownership that Glasner’s departure could accelerate the departure of one of their most prized assets.
England defender Marc Guehi looked set to join Liverpool in the summer, only for his deadline-day move to collapse at the 11th hour.
But should Palace boss Oliver Glasner move to Anfield, many at Liverpool believe it would improve the chances of securing Guehi at last.
He also briefly worked with Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike at Eintracht Frankfurt.
With Liverpool’s season spiralling, Arne Slot is running out of time.
The links to Oliver Glasner are only going to grow stronger as results continue to slip.
Whether Liverpool choose to act, only time will tell.
But if they do, Palace are in a very weak position to hold off the interest in their manager.
