Elliot Anderson Rejects Manchester United In Favour Of Move To Rivals

Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson would prefer to join Manchester City over Manchester United next summer.

The in-form England midfielder is contracted at the City Ground until 2029, but has attracted attention from several Premier League top six clubs.

Elliot Anderson Transfer News: England Midfielder Prefers Manchester City

Elliot Anderson has informed his representatives that he would prefer to sign for Manchester City this summer over Manchester United.

That’s according to transfer journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who is reporting that the Nottingham Forest midfielder would much rather move to the Etihad over Old Trafford if he was to leave his current employers.

Although Anderson is contracted at the City Ground until 2029, a whole host of clubs are reportedly interested in signing the 23-year-old midfielder.

Both major Manchester clubs are said to be just two of the several interested parties in securing Anderson’s signature, with the in-form midfielder high on a number of club’s shopping lists.

United are already pursuing free Bayern Munich star Dayot Upamecano alongside Liverpool, and now look to have their sky blue rivals to deal with in their pursuit of Forest’s Anderson too.

Ruben Amorim’s current midfield is certainly an aging one, with Anderson a perfect fit on paper. However, the player himself would rather team up with Pep Guardiola and co with more chances at silverware on the blue side of Manchester.

With Anderson under contract for another three-and-a-half years at the Reds, they are certainly in a strong bargaining position when it comes to Anderson and the rife interest from top six clubs such as City and United.

Nottingham Forest Value Elliot Anderson At £100M Amid Transfer Speculation

After yet another Man of the Match display against Brighton despite Nottingham Forest falling to a 2-0 defeat, interest in Elliot Anderson continues to mount from several top Premier League clubs.

The midfielder looks in line to start alongside Declan Rice for England at the 2026 World Cup as it stands, making him an attractive signing for top clubs in the summer transfer window.

Given his form this season and the fact he looks a shoe-in for a Three Lions World Cup place, Forest are said to have valued Anderson at £100million if other clubs are serious about buying their star man.

The 23-year-old will only be able to move following next summer’s World Cup, with Manchester City his preferred destination if he is to level the City Ground before his contract runs out in June 2029.

City also seems the most logical destination for Anderson to further his career. That being said, some England stars of late, most notably Jack Grealish and Kalvin Philips, almost ruined their respective careers entirely after signing for Pep Guardiola’s side.

However, Anderson’s style as an aggressive midfielder who frequently wins the ball back high up the pitch would certainly add another dimension to City’s midfield. The England international likes to drive forward too, which will appeal massively to Guardiola.

There will undoubtedly be transfer action on the way out of Man City with James Trafford eyeing a loan move, but Anderson may well be the next addition to the eight-time Premier League champions’ squad.
