Haaland Becomes Fastest Player To Score 100 Premier League Goals

Erling Haaland became the fastest in history to score 100 Premier League goals as Manchester City beat Fulham in a 5-4 thriller at Craven Cottage on Tuesday.

He is the 35th player in history to score 100 goals in the Premier League.

Haaland Hits 100 Premier League Goals in Record Time

Six minutes into Manchester City’s clash with Fulham, Phil Foden sent Erling Haaland through on goal. The Norwegian fired at goal, beating Bernd Leno, but was denied by the left post.

However, he was not to be denied for a second time. In the 17th minute, Jeremy Doku delivered a low cross into the box, and Haaland applied a first-time finish to find the Fulham net.

With that finish, Haaland became the fastest to score 100 goals in Premier League history.

The Norwegian achieved the feat in a record 111 games – 13 games quicker than the previous record-holder, Alan Shearer.

He has also comfortably surpassed Man City icon Sergio Aguero’s record of 100 Premier League goals in 147 games.

After Haaland’s historic strike against Fulham, here are the five fastest players to score 100 goals in Premier League history:

Player Apps to 100 Goals Goals per Game
Erling Haaland (Man City) 111 0.90
Alan Shearer (Blackburn Rovers) 124 0.81
Harry Kane (Tottenham) 141 0.71
Sergio Aguero (Man City) 147 0.68
Thierry Henry (Arsenal) 160 0.63

Since joining Man City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022, Haaland has scored 144 goals in 165 matches across competitions. He has also chipped in with 24 assists, meaning he averages 1.02 goal contributions per match at City.

The Norwegian goal-machine has been enjoying a spectacular year.

In November, he scored 16 goals in eight World Cup qualifying (WCQ) matches, sending Norway to the finals for the first time since 1998.

Haaland broke the World Cup qualifying scoring record in the process, hinting at what fans might expect in the World Cup next year.

Man City Record Historic Win Over Fulham

Erling Haaland (17′), Tijjani Reijnders (37′), and Phil Foden (44′) put Manchester City in the driving seat against Fulham on Tuesday. However, just before the break, Emile Smith Rowe pulled one back, giving home fans something to cheer about.

Three minutes into the second half, Foden doubled his tally, making it 4-1 for City. Then, in the 54th minute, Sander Berge scored an own goal as things went from bad to worse for Marco Silva’s men.

The game looked done and dusted at 5-1, but Alex Iwobi’s 57th-minute strike proved Fulham were not ready to throw in the towel.

Substitute Samuel Chukwueze then scored two goals in quick succession (72′, 78′) to pile on the pressure on Man City. The momentum was with the hosts, but Pep Guardiola’s side managed to keep the hosts at bay.

Had it not been for the fight in the second half, Silva could have been on the brink of losing his job.

Experts believe Brendan Rodgers is the frontrunner in the Fulham next manager betting odds market.

The nine-goal thriller at Craven Cottage saw Man City achieve a unique Premier League feat.

It was the first time the Cityzens had won despite conceding four goals in the Premier League. They last overcame such a deficit in December 1957, beating Sheffield Wednesday 5-4.

Fulham, meanwhile, joined the short list of teams to score goals in a home game and still lose.

Norwich (4-5 Southampton in 1994, 4-5 Liverpool in 2016) and Tottenham (4-5 Arsenal in 2016) are the only other two teams on the list.

It was also the second time in Fulham’s history that they lost after scoring four times. The previous instance came in September 1952 when Leicester City beat them 6-4.
