Manchester United are preparing to battle Real Madrid for the signing of Olympiacos’ £25m-rated wonderkid Christos Mouzakitis.

Manchester United Scouting Christos Mouzakitis

Olympiacos wonderkid Christos Mouzakitis is drawing interest from Manchester United.

The Daily Mail report that the Red Devils sent scouts to watch the 18-year-old midfielder take on LaLiga giants Real Madrid in the Champions League league phase last week.

Los Blancos came away with a 4-3 win, with Mouzakitis starring among the standout players.

His performance drew praise from Xabi Alonso following the full-time whistle in Piraeus.

He has now been highlighted as a potential future signing to strengthen Ruben Amorim’s midfield, with the Portuguese keen on improving his options in the middle of the park.

Their interest comes following the news that in-form Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson has rejected United in favour of a move to Manchester City should he depart the City Ground.

United are set to face stiff competition for Mouzakitis however, as his stock continues to grow.

Real Madrid, having seen the youngster’s qualities firsthand, are also said to be interested in signing him. Los Blancos chiefs are weighing up a potential £25m bid for the impressive talent.

Mouzakitis’ contract at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium runs until the summer of 2029, and previous reports suggest Olympiacos value the Corfu native in excess of £40m.

This figure will only increase as he continues to impress on the domestic and continental stage.

The likes of Chelsea, Brighton, West Ham, Benfica, Porto, Napoli, Bayer Leverkusen, Arsenal, AC Milan and Aston Villa have all been credited with interest in recent weeks, too.

Mouzakitis Wins 2025 Golden Boy Web Award

Earlier this week, Mouzakitis became the first Greek player in history to win the Golden Boy Web award, organised by Tuttosport, securing close to half a million votes from the public.

He beat the likes of Kenan Yildiz (Juventus) and Jan-Carlo Simic (Milan) to win the award.

The former is also drawing Premier League interest, with Chelsea favourites to land Yildiz despite interest from Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal, as well as Real Madrid.

It comes off the back of an impressive debut campaign with the Olympiacos first team, in which he made 36 appearances and scored two goals to help his side to a league and cup double.

He was also included in the Super League Greece Team of the Season and was named the Super League Greece Young Player of the Season thanks to his consistently impressive displays.

Additionally, Mouzakitis made his senior debut for the Greek national team towards the back end of 2024. He has since amassed a total of seven senior caps for Ivan Jovanovic’s side.

As for this term, he has made 16 appearances for Olympiacos across all competitions, with his side currently sitting two points clear at the summit of the Greek top-flight ahead of PAOK.

Those keen on catching a glimpse of the starlet will be able to do so when he faces off against Kairat Almaty, Bayer Leverkusen and Ajax in the Champions League over the coming months.
