Soon-to-be Chelsea striker Emmanuel Emegha has been banned by Strasbourg for their next match after failing to ‘respect the club’s values, expectations and rules’.
Chelsea’s Emmanuel Emegha Banned by Strasbourg
Emmanuel Emegha has been banned by Strasbourg after failing to respect the club’s values.
The Dutchman will join Premier League giants Chelsea in the summer after a pre-agreement was met in September, set to sign a seven-year contract from the fellow BlueCo club.
Just months before his Stamford Bridge switch though, the 22-year-old has been suspended by the Ligue 1 club and will miss their next league game against Toulouse on Saturday evening.
“Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace has decided to suspend Emmanuel Emegha for its next Ligue 1 match, this Saturday December 6 in Toulouse,” a club statement read.
“This decision was taken following the player’s recent failure to respect the club’s values, expectations and rules.
“Racing reaffirms its commitment to the essential principles of exemplary conduct and respect for the collective framework.
“Emmanuel remains an important member of our team, who has always given his all for the club on the pitch. He will be reintegrated into the squad after this match.
“No further comments will be made.”

According to several reports, the ban is partially due to an interview he gave last month.
After being called up to the Netherlands national team, he told a Dutch newspaper that he thought Strasbourg was in Germany prior to his move from Sturm Graz back in 2023.
Additionally, he told French media that the reason his side lost against AS Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille earlier this year was because “he was not playing”.
These incidents, unsurprisingly, haven’t gone down well with the club, fans or the manager – Liam Rosenior, with the latter reportedly having to meet with the forward to discuss his attitude.
Strasbourg ultras booed Emegha and protested following the announcement of his move to Chelsea, with many firmly against being labelled a ‘feeder club’ for the Premier League side.
The pair have made several transfer dealings in recent seasons, with Andrey Santos, Djordje Petrovic and Ben Chilwell among the names to have joined the French club from the Blues.
Having arrived at Stade de la Meinau last summer after falling out-of-favour in West London, Chilwell is eyeing an England recall for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in North America.
Emegha Responds to Strasbourg Ban
Emegha has responded to the ban on social media, taking full responsibility for the incidents.
“I’m 22, I’ve made mistakes and I know that I have much to learn. And I must learn from this. I know that I must do better, and I will, on and off the pitch to represent the club,” he wrote.
The forward continued, revealing that he has had a lengthy and honest conversation with Strasbourg president Marc Keller in the aftermath of the disappointing incidents.
“He knows how much I love this club and how much I work every day. I also extend my thanks to my teammates, the staff, head coach Liam Rosenior and Sporting Director David Weir and everyone associated with the team.
“On Saturday, I will 200% back the team like a supporter.”
Thus far this term, Emegha has impressed in both the French top-flight and in Europe, having totalled seven goals and two assists in 11 appearances across all competitions.
His most recent goal came in a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in the Conference League, which sparked an Oliver Glasner transfer message to the Eagles board ahead of the January window.
Emegha is set to return for Strasbourg’s continental tie against Aberdeen next Thursday.
