Mudryk Ban

Suspended Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk has been handed a 12-month driving ban for driving a BMW with ‘excessive’ window tints.

Mykhailo Mudryk Handed 12-Month Driving Ban

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has been slapped with a 12-month driving ban.

The 24-year-old was stopped by police on the A4 in West London on October 2 after officers spotted his £140,000 BMW M8 had ‘heavy’ dark glass on the windows.

He had already been disqualified from driving at the time, having been handed a six-month ban in August for speeding offences, while he also had no valid driving licence or insurance.

Tests later revealed that the tints on his front windows were in fact too dark, failing to meet the legal requirement for light visibility. The tints were described as ‘excessive’ by the prosecutor.

Daniel Higgins, defending, told the court that Mudryk was behind the wheel as his chauffeur was not available to take him to training. He claimed the Ukrainian ‘was not thinking’ at the time.

Mudryk admitted to driving whilst disqualified and using a vehicle without third-party insurance. Additionally, he admitted to using a vehicle ‘in such a condition it was likely to cause danger’.

Banned Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk

Higgins said: “His driver was unable to drive him that day and that left him unable to go to training. It is not particularly easy for him to use public transport as he is high-profile.

“He is currently having to carry out his work in the Uxbridge area as opposed to where he used to carry out his work.

“He is a very hard-working industrious man who has had some real difficulties over the last year.

“The past year has had a significant psychological impact on him. Perhaps because of those difficulties it has had an effect on his thinking.”

It caps off a tough year for Mudryk, as he remains banned from football after failing a doping test last year. The former Arsenal target last played for Chelsea in November 2024.

Along with a driving ban, the Ukraine international has been given a 12-month community order, including 60 hours of unpaid work, and has been ordered to pay a fine worth £199.

When Will Mudryk Make His Chelsea Return?

Mudryk is banned from football after testing positive for a banned substance – meldonium.

There have been conflicting reports in regard to the potential length of his ban, with some stating that he may be banned for four years, while others claim he could return in January.

A final decision on the length of his suspension is expected in the next month or so.

Should he be able to make his long-awaited return to football between now and the end of the season, reports suggest that the Blues may send him out on loan or could even opt to sell him.

Spanish media report that Sevilla are keen on signing the winger on loan until the end of the season, while Chelsea-affiliated BlueCo club Strasbourg are also said to be interested.

Due to the number of Chelsea loanees Strasbourg already have within their squad, however, if Mudryk were to join the Ligue 1 outfit this winter, he’d likely have to move permanently.

Mike Penders, Kendry Paez and Mamadou Sarr are all on loan at Strasbourg from Chelsea.

Ben Chilwell is another ex-Blue currently at the French club, having joined on a free in September. Based on recent form, Chilwell is eyeing an England return ahead of the World Cup.
