Premier League Betting Tips On Saturday: Expect Goals In Spurs vs Liverpool Clash
A bumper day of Premier League action on Saturday with EIGHT top-flight games to look out for – with the matches spread out over almost eight hours.
The first game will see Chelsea travel to Newcastle in the 12:30pm lunchtime offering – a match-up the Magpies won 2-0 last season.
Four more 3pm games that include title hopefuls Manchester City hosting struggling West Ham.
Another defeat for the Hammers and this would put more pressure on manager Nuno Espirito Santo in the Premier League sack race betting odds market.
There’s a Christmas cracker at 5:30pm as champions Liverpool make the trip to Spurs – a game that ended in a nine-goal thriller last season.
Then the Saturday Premier League action concludes with two 8pm games.
League leaders Arsenal are at Goodison Park, while Leeds United host Crystal Palace.
So, if you are having a wager on Saturday’s big games – see our quick-fire stats-based Premier League betting tips, which will hopefully point you in the direction of a few winners.
Newcastle vs Chelsea 12:30
As football match markets go – it doesn’t get much tighter than this clash, with the bookies finding it hard to split the pair.
Chelsea just edge it with most firms, but they will know they lost this fixture 2-0 last season and a repeat of that score can be backed at 14/1.
But with Newcastle stuttering in 12th on 22 points, then a loss is sure to see further activity in the next Newcastle manager betting odds market.
The good news for the Toon Army though is they’ve done well against Chelsea recently and head here having won their last four at home against the London side.
Chelsea last beat Newcastle away in 2021.
Plus have also only scored ONE goal at St James’ Park in their last four trips there.
With this in mind, the Newcastle/Draw option in the ‘Double Chance’ market looks a fair option at 8/15 – a bet that can be chucked in many weekend footy accas to get the ‘ball’ rolling.
BEST BET: NEWCASTLE/DRAW ‘DOUBLE CHANCE’ @ 8/15
Match Odds
- Newcastle 13/8
- Draw 5/2
- Chelsea 6/4
Bournemouth vs Burnley 15:00
Sorry Cherries and Claret fans, but this is the least appealing game of the eight Saturday Premier League clashes.
Burnley will start the weekend down in 19th on only 10 points and have only won one of their eight away league games this season.
Bournemouth are more mid-table in 13th and will be buzzing from a thrilling 4-4 Monday night draw with Man Utd.
The sides last met in the 2023/24 season, with this repeat clash ending 2-1 to Bournemouth.
With the Cherries also winning on the road against Burnley that season too (2-0).
Nine of the last 12 H2H’s saw OVER 2.5 GOALS, so this might appeal at 8/11.
But the bet here is going to be Antoine Semenyo to score anytime.
The Bournemouth man has netted in his last two games against Burnley and was also on the scoresheet in that epic 4-4 draw last Monday.
BEST BET: ANTOINE SEMENYO TO SCORE ANYTIME @ 13/10
Match Odds
- Bournemouth 4/9
- Draw 10/3
- Burnley 6/1
Brighton vs Sunderland 15:00
Brighton and Sunderland last met in the League Cup in 2011 – with the Seagulls winning 1-0.
Therefore, there’s no recent H2H’s to go on here and not a lot between the two on the table.
Brighton are 10th with 23 points, just behind Sunderland in 8th on 26 points, who will be buzzing still from their recent win over bitter rivals Newcastle.
The match odds, with home advantage, favour Brighton, who have only lost once at home in the league this season – but the 4/6 does look skinny.
Especially taking on a side that is full of confidence at the moment and will be keen to keep their momentum going into the busy Xmas period.
A lot of focus will also be on Seagulls striker Danny Welbeck – who, of course, used to ply his trade with the Black Cats too.
He’s 6/4 to score anytime, or 5/1 to score the first goal of the game.
But this could be another Double Chance game to tuck into – with the 5/4 on offer on Sunderland/Draw looking decent value.
Meaning only a Brighton win can scupper the wager.
BEST BET: SUNDERLAND/DRAW ‘DOUBLE CHANCE’ @ 5/4
Match Odds
- Brighton 4/6
- Draw 3/1
- Sunderland 4/1
Manchester City vs West Ham 15:00
After a stumbling start to their league season, Manchester City are firmly back in the title race – having won their last four.
And will head into the week just two points behind Arsenal in the table.
The good news for City is that they face an easy-looking home clash with struggling West Ham, who are down in 18th (13 points).
Whereas, Arsenal have a tricky away trip to Everton later on Saturday.
In short, a win here and City can go top before the Gunners play at 8pm.
The recent H2H’s also tell us City won this repeat game easily 4-1 last season and have also taken six points off the Hammers in each of the last three seasons.
3-1 City has been a popular scoreline, with three of the last four H2H’s going this way, so this might appeal at 10/1.
But the last four clashes have also all gone OVER 3.5 GOALS, so this option at 10/11 is how we are going to approach this game.
BEST BET: OVER 3.5 GOALS @ 10/11
Match Odds
- Man City 2/9
- Draw 7/1
- West Ham 13/1
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Brentford 15:00
Let’s be honest Wolves are down – it’s not even Christmas and their fans will already be thinking about the Championship next season.
This is due to Wanderers being rock bottom of the table on only two points and are yet to record a win.
At least they are at home this Saturday and you feel they must win a league game soon.
They also gave Arsenal a scare last weekend, so will gain something from that.
Plus Brentford have only won one league game on the road this season and lost seven.
This repeat clash ended 1-1 last season, but Brentford thumped Wolves at home 5-3.
It’s a tricky game to call.
But with both teams having scored in seven of the last nine H2H’s, so at 4/5 this is how we are going to play this one.
BEST BET: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE @ 4/5
Match Odds
- Wolves 5/2
- Draw 5/2
- Brentford Evs
Tottenham vs Liverpool 17:30
This looks like the clash of the Saturday Premier League games, in what is a repeat of the 2019 Champions League Final, that the Reds won 2-0.
Tottenham will be looking to come back from a poor 3-0 defeat against Forest last weekend.
But even though it’s looking unlikely Liverpool will defend their league title this season, they’ve picked up in recent weeks – and will come here unbeaten in five.
Which has seen them move up to 7th in the table (26pts) and still four placed ahead of Tottenham in 11th (22pts).
This game last season also ended in a crazy 6-3 away win to Liverpool in a nine-goal thriller.
And goals, goals, goals has been the consistent when these teams meet.
Backed up with nine of the last 10 league H2H’s seeing OVER 2.5 GOALS.
With the last two league meetings alone seeing a massive 15 goals in total.
Over 2.5 Goals can be backed at 4/6, which even though its odds-on still looks fair value.
While anyone wanting better value might opt for one more goal and Over 3.5 Goals at 13/8.
BEST BET: OVER 2.5 GOALS 4/6
Match Odds
- Tottenham 5/2
- Draw 11/4
- Liverpool Evs
Everton vs Arsenal 20:00
If City win earlier in the day at home to West Ham, then Arsenal could be coming into this game NOT top of the table.
Meaning, the Gunners will be slightly under pressure to get all three points to leapfrog back to the summit.
This season on the road in the league, Arsenal have only won 50% of their eight games too – but will face an Everton side with the same stats at home.
The match betting sees Arsenal odds-on to win at 4/6, but there is a small word of warning as both H2H’s last term ended in draws, which is on offer at 11/4.
With this repeat fixture ending 1-1 – that correct score is on the table again at 7/1.
In fact, Arsenal have only won one of their last seven league trips to Goodison Park – which will certainly concern Gunners fans.
The last three on Merseyside have also been low-scoring affairs, all going Under 2.5 Goals, which can be backed at 8/11.
Which looks the way to play this game, in what could be a frustrating night for the London side.
BEST BET: UNDER 2.5 GOALS @ 8/11
Match Odds
- Everton 9/2
- Draw 11/4
- Arsenal 4/6
Leeds vs Crystal Palace 20:00
In the Premier League at the moment (after 16 games) there is no better away side than Crystal Palace.
The Eagles have won five of their eight on the road, drawn one and lost two – giving them 16 points, which is more than any other team in the English top-flight.
This has helped them hit 26 points in total in the league and start Gameweek 17 in 5th place.
Next up is a trip to Leeds to try and enhance those away stats – who have only won three in front of their home fans this term.
Therefore, when you compare these contrasting home and away records, it’s hard to see why Leeds are the slight match betting odds favourites here at 13/8.
Especially as the last twice these sides have faced-off Palace have also won both – including a 5-1 thumping then last time they went to Elland Road in April 2023.
With that in mind, the 1/2 on Palace/Draw in the ‘Double Chance’ is bordering on ‘banker’ material, while the value-seekers might just stick with a Palace win at 7/4.
BEST BET: PALACE/DRAW ‘DOUBLE CHANCE’ @ 1/2
Match Odds
- Leeds 13/8
- Draw 9/4
- Palace 7/4
