Lamine Yamal Films Wojciech Szczensy Smoking In Barcelona Celebrations

Lamine Yamal’s social media post gave a small glimpse into the Barcelona dressing room by accidentally appearing to show Wojciech Szczęsny smoking.

Barcelona were celebrating a dramatic victory over their rivals Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup Final.

Raphinha opened the scoring before being pegged back by Vinicius Jr. Robert Lewandowski then briefly restored Barca’s lead as Gonzalo Garcia grabbed a second equaliser.

Brazilian Raphina then grabbed his second and the winner in the 73rd minute to pile the pressure on Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso.

The former Arsenal stopper watched from the substitute bench as his side claimed their first piece of silverware for the campaign.

As Barcelona celebrated their triumph, 18-year-old wonderkid Yamal went live on Instagram to communicate with his masses of followers.

He panned the camera around to fellow squad members before catching a glimpse of Szczesny appearing to blow a cloud of smoke.

Yamal then quickly says, “This can’t be recorded” as he flips the camera back towards his face.

Szczesny is the current third-choice stopper at Barcelona and has played six times in LaLiga this season when Joan Garcia and Marc-Andre ter Stegen were absent with injuries.

The 35-year-old has smoked throughout his career and has openly admitted the habit during interviews and podcasts.

However, he attempts to refrain from smoking in public because he doesn’t want to set a bad example to young supporters.

Szczęsny said: “Mentioning the subject of smoking, please do not follow me and don’t do it. I’ve lost the fight.

“When I was very young, I created a habit that is very negative for me, and I know it is. I just lost against it. So for anybody watching: Don’t do what I did.”

He’s also gone on record saying: “There are things that I don’t change in my personal life, and it’s nobody’s business if I smoke.

“I believe that it doesn’t affect what I do on the pitch; I work twice as hard. If anyone thinks that I will change the way I am in my personal life, think again because I am who I am. I’ve been this way my whole life.”

Xabi Alonso Under Pressure At Real Madrid

Alonso’s position at Real Madrid has already come under scrutiny this season, with club president Florentino Perez believed to be unconvinced over his future.

Perez cut a forlorn figure next to the trophy podium on Sunday, and it will only add weight of expectation on Alonso’s shoulders.

Alonso has been linked with the Liverpool position, and it could come to fruition in the near future should his tenure at Bernabeu come to an end.

Although reports in the Athletic suggest that Alonso still has the backing of Real Madrid chiefs for now, it could change very quickly.

Real Madrid sit four points behind Barcelona in the title race and are clinging on to an automatic qualification to the knockout spots in the Champions League.
