Nuno Sacked West Ham

West Ham have allowed Nuno Espirito Santo to add a new member to his coaching staff, suggesting he is not in imminent danger of being sacked.

Nuno Will NOT Be Sacked by West Ham

West Ham have announced the appointment of Spanish coach Paco Jemez as part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s coaching staff at the London Stadium.

The vastly experienced 55-year-old has managed 12 different teams throughout his managerial career, most recently managing third-tier Spanish side UD Ibiza.

He was sacked from his role in the Balearic Islands in October after less than a year in charge.

Jemez also enjoyed a successful playing career, featuring for the likes of Rayo Vallecano, Deportiva La Coruna and Real Zaragoza in LaLiga, and turned out for his country 21 times.

Additionally, he was part of the Spain squad for Euro 2002 in Belgium and the Netherlands. He featured in three matches before La Roja’s eventual elimination in the quarter-finals.

Now, Jemez is set for his first foray into the Premier League. The Hammers officially unveiled the Spaniard as a member of Nuno’s coaching staff on Thursday afternoon.

It has also been reported that some other potential new members of staff have been interviewed, but it remains unclear if they will join Jemez in being appointed at this stage.

News of potential additions to the coaching staff comes amid a turbulent time for the Hammers, with Nuno reportedly on the brink of being sacked as they languish in the relegation zone.

He is currently the favourite in the Premier League sack race odds market.

Slaven Bilic is favoured to replace him in the next West Ham manager odds market.

But given that the club are allowing Nuno to bring in his own staff, it would suggest that the former Nottingham Forest and Wolves boss is not in imminent danger of being sacked.

Additionally, West Ham have allowed him to spend over £50m on strikers in January, with Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe both being signed, further supporting this theory.

West Ham Travel to Tottenham on Saturday

It is currently unknown whether Jemez will be in the dugout for Saturday’s trip to Tottenham.

The Hammers’ statement revealed that he joins subject to a successful work permit application.

What is known is that the East London club are in desperate need of a crucial three points.

They are now winless in 10 straight Premier League matches, seven points adrift of the safety positions, while they are among the favourites in the Premier League relegation odds market.

The Hammers head into the weekend off the back of a rare win, however. Castellanos sealed a 2-1 triumph for Nuno’s men against QPR in the FA Cup third round last weekend.

West Ham will be without a key man for Saturday’s clash though, with El Hadji Malick Diouf ruled out against Tottenham as he prepares to take part in the AFCON final with Senegal on Sunday.

There are also doubts over whether star midfielder Lucas Paqueta will be involved.

He missed his side’s cup win on Sunday with a back issue, but amid reports linking him with a move away from the club, Paqueta could go on strike by refusing to play against Tottenham.

Elsewhere, Lukasz Fabianski and Konstantinos Mavropanos remain ruled out of action.
