Wolves starlet Mateus Mane is drawing transfer interest from the Premier League’s elite.

Mane has been a shining light in an otherwise dreadful campaign for the Old Gold, as they sit rock bottom of the English top-flight table with just seven points to their name after 21 matches.

14 points adrift of safety, they are favoured in the Premier League relegation odds market.

Rob Edwards’ side have enjoyed a recent upturn in form, however. They are now unbeaten in four consecutive matches across all competitions, securing two victories and two draws.

This run includes two 1-1 stalemates against Manchester United and Everton, as well as a 3-0 win over West Ham in the league, along with a 6-1 triumph over Shrewsbury in the FA Cup.

Much of this has been inspired by the introduction of 18-year-old Mane. He broke into the Wolves squad in November but has really begun to strut his stuff in recent weeks.

The England youth international has scored in back-to-back league appearances for the West Midlands club, netting in the win over the Hammers as well as in the draw against the Toffees.

Subsequently, it has been reported that more than half of the clubs currently playing in the English top-flight have sent scouts to monitor the talent since his Molineux breakthrough.

Chief among them is reigning Premier League champions Liverpool. Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle have all been linked with moves for Mane, too.

Wolves are not expected to sell the attacking midfielder during the January transfer window.

However, with relegation edging closer, they may need to cash in at the end of the season.

Mane’s contract runs until the summer of 2029, and Wolves’ valuation of the player is unknown.

Key Reason Liverpool Lead Mateus Mane Race

Arne Slot’s Reds are believed to be leading the race for Mane’s signature ahead of the summer.

A key reason for this lies with the youngster’s representatives, Enhance Sports Group.

Three of their clients are already Liverpool players, therefore they already have a relationship with the club. This hands the Merseysiders a major advantage over their Premier League rivals.

Reds academy stars Kieran Morrison, Wellity Lucky and Fola Onanuga are all represented by the same agency as Mane. All three players are currently part of Rob Page’s U21 squad.

For now though, Mane will aim to keep impressing at Wolves for the rest of the campaign.

He is deemed ‘undroppable’ by Old Gold fans, with head coach Edwards seemingly agreeing, as he has thrown the teenager into the starting lineup in each of his side’s last four league games.

Speaking on Mane after his side’s first win of the season against West Ham last month, Edwards said: “He once again delivered a very bold display, playing with real commitment.

“He’s 18, but he’s almost like a little leader on the pitch. I think that’s contagious. I believe he influences others – with his energy, his enthusiasm.

“He’s truly a very bright talent, someone we should really admire. At the same time, we want to make sure we look after him.”

Those looking to catch a glimpse of him can do so when Wolves host Newcastle on Sunday.
