Mauricio Pochettino wants a return to Tottenham Hotspur with Thomas Frank on the brink of the sack.
The Spurs hierarchy are ready to pull the plug on the Frank experiment after another damaging home defeat against rivals West Ham on Saturday.
A 34.4% win record since Frank’s appointment in June means he is the heavy favourite in the Premier League sack race.
Frank is expected to take charge of his side when they host Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday, but it could prove to be his final game.
While Spurs’ form under Frank is far from good enough, he’s also lost the supporters with his style of football, while senior figures in the dressing room have grown disillusioned with his management style.
Mauricio Pochettino Eyes Tottenham Return
The Tottenham hierarchy will undoubtedly be running the rule over potential candidates to become the next Tottenham manager.
Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner is the favourite following his announcement that he will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.
However, reports could suggest he may depart sooner with the club on a run of 10 games without a victory in all competitions, including a defeat against Macclesfield.
Another option would be to hire an interim manager until the end of the season, before making a permanent appointment when there is a bigger options of potential candidates.
That could entice the Spurs board to reunite with Pochettino, who is contracted to take charge of the USA at the World Cup this summer.
Pochettino is a fan favourite at the club due to the success under his reign over a five-year period until 2019.
Although he failed to win silverware, he guided them to a second-place finish in the Premier League, the Champions League final, and the League Cup final.
According to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, Pochettino would be very eager for a return to North London if the opportunity arose.
Since leaving Spurs, he’s also managed Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea, but was sacked at the latter following a sixth-place finish.
Next Tottenham Manager
Another name believed to be in the mix is former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca.
The Argentine is looking for a way back into management following his axing at the Blues at the beginning of the year.
Maresca isn’t likely to be out of work for long, with reports suggesting he could be a target for Real Madrid after they dismissed Xabi Alonso.
Fulham boss Marco Silva is a name towards the top of the betting list, while Ryan Mason, who was recently sacked at West Brom, could be a short-term appointment.
