West Ham are ready to offload goalkeeper Mads Hermansen – just months after splashing £20million on the stopper.
Hermansen agreed a five-year deal with the Hammers following his move from Leicester but could leave after just five months at the club.
The goalkeeper has featured just once under manager Nuno Espirito Santo and the board have already eyed his replacement.
According to reports in France, Toulouse goalkeeper Guillaume Restes is being lined up to challenge Alphonse Areola for the starting spot.
West Ham Could Take Advantage Of Agent Relationship
Restes has recently switched to Will Salthouse’s Unique Sports Group – an agent the club regularly works with.
West Ham have invested heavily during the January transfer window and offloading Hermansen could help recoup some much needed funds.
With Areola firmly cemented as West Ham’s No 1, Restes is seen as a more realistic and affordable second choice.
Hermansen conceded 11 goals in his first four games of the Premier League season and played a part in Graham Potter’s sacking.
Restes is a France Under 21 international and has previously gained interest from Newcastle manager Eddie Howe.
Though West Ham’s relationship with Salthouse – who has previously represented the likes of Said Benhrama and Michail Antonio – sees them lead the chase.
However, it remains to be seen whether Restes would swap a starting place in the Toulouse squad for a spot on West Ham’s bench.
Nuno Espirito Santo Forcing Midfielder Exit
Based on some recent James-Ward Prowse transfer news, the England midfielder is also another player being pushed towards the exit doors by Nuno Espirito Santo.
Ward-Prowse has not played a single minute for the club since September due to a previous falling out when together at Nottingham Forest.
The Athletic also reported that Ward-Prowse had been banned from certain elements of West Ham training and forced to train alone.
It had looked like there could be a reprieve for Ward-Prowse with West Ham reportedly looking at managerial change.
Michael Carrick had been tipped to be the next West Ham manager but Nuno Espirito Santo looks safe with the club backing him financially.
David Sullivan has also put his faith in the former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager.
Suggesting Nuno Espirito Santo will not be sacked after recently being allowed to add to his West Ham coaching staff.
West Ham’s chance of avoiding relegation were boosted at the weekend with a late winner earning them all three points against struggling Tottenham.
