Anis Mehmeti Wolves

Bristol City boss Gerhard Struber has addressed rumours linking Anis Mehmeti with an Ashton Gate exit, with Wolves reportedly interested in the Albanian.

Bristol City On Anis Mehmeti Exit Talks

Gerhard Struber says it is “not a big surprise” to see Anis Mehmeti linked with a Bristol City exit.

The Albania international has been linked with a January transfer away from Ashton Gate, with Championship high-flyers Ipswich Town among the parties interested in acquiring his services.

Mehmeti’s contract expires at the end of the season, and while the Robins have offered him a new deal, they may opt to sell him this winter to avoid losing him for free in the summer.

Ipswich are said to be ‘eyeing a move’ for the 25-year-old, with Kieran McKenna keen on adding options to his attack, but Struber still has a “big hope” that he will stay put in Bristol.

Speaking to BristolLive on Tuesday, Struber boss said: “I think this is not a big surprise that Anis is linked with some clubs, and I would say the media also needs something to write.

“I think it’s a normal time that brings some headlines, so we will see.

“I think Anis knows how important he is for the team, and he has a really good offer on the table from us. We will see how he wants to decide, but also for us, it’s important that we know.

“We need, in the end, players that are committed with Bristol City. I think we need players that love to play for Bristol City and not think always too much in different directions.”

Finally, he reiterated: “We need players that are committed with us, with the goal that we have, and in this direction, of course, we have to also think.”

Mehmeti has starred for the Robins in the South West thus far this term, having registered a total of nine goals and six assists in 31 appearances across all competitions.

Wolves Interested in Anis Mehmeti

Alongside Ipswich, Mehmeti reportedly has interest from a potential Premier League suitor.

The division’s basement-side Wolves have emerged as contenders for his signature.

That’s according to Football Insider, who report that the club see him as a player that can make an impact in the team now and can be an asset in the Championship if they are relegated.

Despite enjoying a recent upturn in form and going four games unbeaten, Wolves remain 14 points adrift of safety and are massively favoured in the Premier League relegation odds market.

The Old Gold may step up their pursuit of Mehmeti amid the rumoured departures of several key players, with Jorgen Strand Larsen, Hwang Hee-chan and Mateus Mane linked with exits.

Leeds, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest are all among the sides monitoring Strand Larsen, while South Korea international Hwang is drawing interest from Eredivisie leaders PSV.

Meanwhile, Liverpool lead the race for Mane, although the talented 18-year-old is also being linked with Newcastle, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and more.
