Alisha Lehmann Training with Leicester

Leicester City are on the verge of announcing the signing of Alisha Lehmann from Como.

The Switzerland international arrived at the club’s training ground on Wednesday for her first training session with the first team ahead of her return to the Women’s Super League (WSL).

She has previously turned out for West Ham United, Everton and Aston Villa in the league.

The Foxes have been chasing Lehmann’s signature for several weeks, with the forward missing out on Como’s goalless draw against Napoli on Saturday as transfer talks progressed.

Their interest in the 26-year-old comes as they look to stave off relegation to the second tier.

Leicester boast a record of two wins, three draws and seven defeats thus far this term, placing them five points clear of the relegation playoffs as we enter the second half of the season.

The East Midlands outfit are keen on adding experience to their squad in a bid to remain clear of relegation, having already signed Ashleigh Neville, Rachel Williams and Sarah Mayling.

Lehmann is set to follow the trio through the door, with reports suggesting that she is set to make her debut against former employers West Ham United on Sunday afternoon.

Just four points separate the Foxes and the 11th-placed Hammers in the table ahead of the tie.

Leicester Looking To Strengthen in January

Leicester’s women’s team aren’t the only ones looking to strengthen this January, either.

After a poor start to the season, the men’s side are also looking to bolster their options this winter. According to reports, Leicester want Fabian Nurnberger from German side Darmstadt.

They have been linked with a whole host of other transfer targets too, with the likes of David Datro Fofana, Ibrahim Diabate, Joel Piroe and Anthony Patterson reportedly of interest.

King Power chiefs hope that these potential additions will help turn the Foxes’ season around in the English second tier, with pressure mounting on head coach Marti Cifuentes to deliver.

He is currently the bookmakers’ favourite in the Championship sack race odds market.

It comes off the back of winning just two of their last seven matches in the league.

Should that poor run continue, the Spaniard is likely to be dismissed, with former Rangers and Southampton boss Russell Martin currently favoured in the next Leicester manager odds market.

The Foxes are next in action against relegation-battlers Oxford on Saturday afternoon.
