Everton are set to step up their chase for Sunderland striker Wilson Isidor after missing out on target Youssef En-Nesyri.
Toffees boss David Moyes wants to strengthen his strikeforce this January and bolster his threadbare squad.
Fenerbache’s En-Nesyri was one of the names on Everton’s transfer shortlist, with the club making an offer to sign him on loan with an option to buy.
Interest in his signature has not been short with Juventus and Aston Villa also linked.
Everton Miss Out On Youssef En-Nesyri
Reports in Italy claim that Juventus are on the verge of concluding a deal for the Moroccan international after personal terms were agreed.
The Old Lady had been the 28-year-old’s first choice destination throughout the transfer saga, and it appears he’ll get his wish.
En-Nesyri has scored seven goals across 15 league appearances in Turkey this season.
The deal is expected to be an initial loan move with an obligation to buy at the end of the campaign.
Juventus are fifth in Serie A, 10 points adrift of the top, and have sealed their spot in the Champions League play-off for the knockout round.
Everton To Step Up Wilson Isidor Chase
Moyes is now likely to push ahead with his plans to sign Isidor, who has fallen down the pecking order at the Black Cats.
The form of Sunderland pair Brian Brobbey and Eliezer Mayenda means Isidor hasn’t started a Premier League game since the beginning of December.
Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris was quizzed on Isidor’s future in his press conference on Thursday and confirmed he had held talks with his player and agent.
He said: “For Wilson, I’ve had many conversations with him and his agent recently. He’s a really good player, important for us, and did really well in the past, and for sure in the future as well.”
Isidor cost Sunderland just £3.3million from Zenit St Petersburg almost 12 months ago and helped fire them to the Premier League last season.
It’s believed they would be holding out for around £25m to consider letting him leave this month.
Transfer Plans May Have Shifted
Everton were dealt a blow after it was revealed that Jack Grealish will miss the majority of the season with a fractured foot.
It leaves Moyes desperately light of options out wide, which in turn suggests Moyes could rekindle his interest in Sevilla’s Ruben Vargas.
Just before the transfer window opened, Spanish publication ABC Deportes reported that Everton were chasing the winger in a £13million deal.
The left winger has scored three and assisted four in 13 LaLiga games this season but is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury.
Everton’s Premier League rivals have previously been linked with Vargas, including Leeds and Bournemouth, after a potential switch to Napoli collapsed in the summer.
