Everton are weighing up a move for Fenerbahce striker Jhon Duran this month.
David Moyes is keen to sign a new frontman for the Toffees, but time is rapidly running out.
While the club have waited patiently for an opportunity, Duran, who impressed at Aston Villa, is on their radar. As a result, they could launch an ambitious swoop in the coming days.
Everton Show Interest In Jhon Duran
According to A Spor, Duran has attracted interest from several Premier League giants.
The ace, 22, is currently on loan at Fenerbahce from Saudi outfit Al-Nassr, who he joined from Villa for a staggering £64million.
He had scored 12 goals in 18 appearances in the Middle East but wanted to return to Europe, and sealed his switch to Turkey until the end of the season.
Duran has netted five times in 21 games in Istanbul but could find himself on the move again.
Everton are indeed in the race but will have to fend off stern competition from Nottingham Forest, West Ham United and Bournemouth, all of whom are keen to strike a loan deal.
However, a major stumbling block could see the quartet miss out.
Jhon Duran Unconvinced Over Transfer
Duran wants to stay at Fenerbahce this month, having only arrived in July.
That will place the burden on Everton to deliver a convincing sales pitch. But this could prove difficult, especially with Thierno Barry impressing as Moyes’ new first-choice No 9.
Barry has scored five goals in the Premier League this season, reducing Beto to a bit-part role from the bench.
No stranger to England himself, Duran will want guaranteed game time.
The fact that his current loan would also have to be ripped up before he could join Everton is another complicating factor. Regardless, speculation on his future continues to swirl.
Duran has been removed from Fenerbahce’s travelling squad for their Europa League trip to FCSB on Thursday, with the club citing a knock as the reason behind his absence.
Supporters, though, are more sceptical.
Meanwhile, Sportscasting reported that Everton also want Wilson Isidor after missing out on Youssef En-Nesyri, who, ironically, is competing with Duran for a place up front.
Shock Aston Villa Departure
Duran departed Villa to join Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr in January 2025.
He scored 12 goals in 29 games in his final campaign and 20 in his 78 total appearances.
But only seven of those were Premier League starts, with Unai Emery typically opting for Ollie Watkins instead.
That led him to decide to leave for Saudi Arabia, where he earned an eye-watering £16.7m per year on his five-year deal.
