Who could Aston Villa play in the last 16 of the Europa League? After a breathless final matchday, Unai Emery’s side looks primed for a deep run this season.
Aston Villa made it seven wins from a possible eight in the Europa League, running out eventual victories in a smash-and-grab victory against RB Salzburg.
On a night where Unai Emery heavily rotated the squad – bringing in the likes of outcast Harvey Elliot from the cold and debutant George Hemmings in midfield – Villa found themselves two goals behind at the break.
A spirited comeback shows they have the mettle to go far in this competition, as Emery so often does.
Goals from Morgan Rogers, Tyrone Mings and a fairytale moment for teenager and match-winner Jamaldeen Jimoh ensured Villa finished the league phase in second place, just behind table-toppers Lyon.
19 year old Jamaldeen Jimoh has just came off the bench in his first European game for Aston Villa to potentially WIN the game for them as they go 3-2 up against Salzburg in the 87th minute…
