Senegal vs Egypt Betting Tips – 17:00 KO

Wednesday’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) action gets underway with the competition’s most successful nation, Egypt, going head-to-head with Senegal in the opening semi-final in Tangier.

The Pharaohs have won a record seven AFCON titles throughout history. None of these have been won with star man Mohamed Salah, however, with their most recent success being in 2010.

The Lions of Teranga, meanwhile, won their maiden AFCON title in 2021, beating Egypt in the final.

Once again, the fixture sees ex-Liverpool duo Salah and Sadio Mane pitted against one another.

Both nations boast an identical record at the 2025 edition of the tournament thus far with four wins and a draw apiece, while the pair finished top of their respective groups.

Senegal edged past Mali with a narrow 1-0 win in their quarter-final clash, and Egypt held on to secure a 3-2 triumph over reigning champions Ivory Coast in their quarter-final match.

Unsurprisingly, Salah has shone for the Pharaohs throughout the tournament. The winger has scored in each of his four appearances, tallying a total of four goals and one assist.

His goal and assist against the Ivory Coast saw Mo Salah make Egypt history at AFCON.

Often the man to carry his nation on his back, we’re siding with him to have another standout performance in the semi-finals against what is likely their toughest opponent yet.

The 33-year-old is averaging 1.5 shots on target per game at AFCON, notably hitting the target three times in the last 16 against Benin.

At 11/4, you can back him to hit the target twice here.

Back Pape Gueye To Be Shown a Card

Another tip we believe is worth backing is for Pape Gueye to be carded at 11/5.

The Villarreal midfielder is among the most cautioned players at the tournament (joint second), having been shown two yellow cards in only four appearances at the 2025 finals.

This includes a yellow card in the win over Mali in the quarter-finals on Friday.

It’s hardly a surprising return given his fouling statistics, as he is averaging 3.0 fouls committed per game. In total, he has committed 12 fouls across four matches at the tournament.

Against Sudan in the last 16, in which he scored a brace, he committed five fouls.

In for a tough midfield battle against the Egyptians, it is entirely feasible that Gueye has another foul-laden showing, which may result in his third caution of the campaign.

Senegal midfielder Pape Gueye

Our most confident tip for this encounter is for under 2.5 goals to be scored in the match.

Whenever Senegal and Egypt face off, it is typically a low-scoring affair. Each of their last five head-to-head meetings have ended with less than three goals being scored across 90 minutes.

Their most recent pair of clashes came in World Cup qualifying back in March 2022, with the first of two meetings ending 1-0 to Egypt and the second ending 1-0 in favour of Senegal.

With tensions high and a spot in the final on the line, we’re expecting a similar story here.

Nigeria vs Morocco Betting Tips – 20:00 KO

Host nation and tournament favourites Morocco face a clash against Nigeria in the second semi-final, with the Atlas Lions aiming to reach the final for the first time since 2004.

They have won the competition just once previously, in Ethiopia back in 1976, and the Super Eagles have won the title on three occasions, most recently at the 2013 edition in South Africa.

Nigeria finished as runners-up to the Ivory Coast at the 2023 AFCON finals.

Both sides remain unbeaten in this year’s edition of AFCON, with Morocco winning four and drawing one, while the Super Eagles are the only side to have won all five of their matches.

The Atlas Lions also head into the tie boasting a 25-game unbeaten streak in all competitions.

They beat Cameroon 2-0 in the quarters, prompting claims of referee bias against Morocco, as several decisions deemed by many to be controversial were awarded in their favour.

Nigeria, meanwhile, secured a 2-0 victory over Algeria in their quarter-final fixture.

Starring with a goal and an assist in that one was Chelle’s talisman, Victor Osimhen.

The Galatasaray forward now has four goals and two assists for the Super Eagles at AFCON 2025, with bookmakers now placing him among the favourites to finish as top goalscorer.

Looking to inspire his side to a second consecutive AFCON final, we expect Osimhen to be well up for this one and are backing him to register at least two shots on target during the match.

This pick can be backed at 2/1, with Osimhen averaging 2.0 shots on target per game at the tournament thus far and having hit the benchmark in three of his five appearances at AFCON.

Back Brahim Diaz to Maintain Goalscoring Form

The only player to have scored more than Osimhen at AFCON is Morocco’s Brahim Diaz.

Diaz has scored a goal in each of his five appearances at the finals, and at a price of 12/5, you can back the Real Madrid star to extend his goalscoring run to six straight matches.

Additionally, Diaz is likely to be on penalties, handing his goalscoring chances a further boost.

Finally, we’re tipping Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui to commit two fouls.

The right-back has started in all five of Morocco’s matches at the tournament. Averaging 1.4 fouls committed per game throughout the group stage and the knockout stage.

This includes two fouls in each of his knockout stage appearances vs Tanzania and Cameroon.

Likely to be up against tricky opponents in Bright Osayi-Samuel, Lookman and Osimhen, we believe that there’s a strong chance Mazraoui makes at least two fouls in this match.
