Arsenal Injury Update: Havertz Suffers ‘Worrying Injury Scare’

Mail Sport reporter Sami Mokbel has revealed that Arsenal star Kai Havertz suffered a worrying muscular injury scare, believed to be hamstring-related, during a training session earlier in the week.

The report states that a precise diagnosis for the German’s injury is yet to have been confirmed and that the club will reveal the extent of the issue after returning from their winter training camp in Dubai.

His injury comes at a critical point in the campaign, and with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli already missing, Mikel Arteta will be desperate to avoid having the 25-year-old out for a lengthy period.

Also ruled out is Takehiro Tomiyasu, while Ben White is nearing a return after recovering from a knee injury.

Havertz is Arsenal’s top scorer across all competitions this term with 15 goals in 34 appearances, so his absence will undoubtedly be felt, especially given that the club failed to recruit an attacker during the January transfer window.

This likely means that Raheem Sterling, Leandro Trossard and talented academy youngster Ethan Nwaneri will form the Gunners’ front three for the trip to Leicester on Saturday, with Trossard potentially taking up a more central role.

Unsurprisingly, Arteta’s men remain heavily favoured by the UK’s best football betting sites to prevail at the King Power at around 1/4, while a shock victory for the Foxes is rated at a 10/1 shot and a draw is valued at 19/4.

Arsenal remain six points adrift of league leaders Liverpool at the time of writing, however that gap could soon be extended to nine points, as the Reds take on Everton in a rescheduled Merseyside derby on Wednesday night.
