Arsenal And Manchester United Among Teams Picked For Live FA Cup TV Coverage

Arsenal and Manchester United are among the picks for live coverage of their FA Cup third round encounters next month.

The Gunners were drawn away at Championship side Portsmouth while Ruben Amorim’s United hosts Brighton in an all-Premier League affair.

Arsenal are currently fighting on four fronts. They are favourites to win the Champions League and have an EFL Cup quarter-final with Crystal Palace to come.

Wrexham kick off the selection of live matches when they welcome Sean Dyche’s Nottingham Forest on Friday, January 9.

FA Cup Third Round Games Live On TV

Current FA Cup holders Crystal Palace will be shown live on terrestrial TV, with BBC One playing host to their intriguing encounter with Macclesfield at 12:15pm.

It’s a plush occasion for non-league Macclesfield, who will be able to line their pockets with the extra TV money they will earn on the day.

Each club whose fixture is selected for live TV broadcast receives a broadcast fee of around £80,000, in addition to their normal prize money from the competition.

Macclesfield, who sit 13th, have a stadium capacity of 5,300 people.

Later in the afternoon, fans will get their football fix with Tottenham’s home contest with Aston Villa also on BBC One, with a 5:45pm kick-off.

Immediately after, Nathan Jones’ Championship side Charlton will have their contest with 2018 winners Chelsea shown on TNT Sports 1.

On Sunday, TNT Sports 2 will show Derby hosting Leeds United at 12pm with the Championship side looking to pull off an upset.

Both sides have won the competition on one occasion, with Leeds beating Arsenal in the 1972 final and Derby lifting the trophy in 1946.

Two more games follow on Sunday, with Pompey versus Arsenal at 2pm and United’s game with Brighton at 4:30pm – both on TNT Sports 1.

The live action continues on Monday evening when Liverpool play host to Barnsley, live on TNT Sports 1.
