For the first time, the North London Derby will take place outside the UK when Arsenal and Tottenham face off in Hong Kong for a pre-season friendly this summer.

The Gunners will take on rivals Spurs at the newly-built Kai Tak Stadium on 31 July ahead of next season.

Kickoff for the ‘North Hong Kong Derby’ is scheduled for 7:30pm local time (11:30am BST).

It will be the first time in history that the two old foes have met on foreign soil.

The match forms part of the Hong Kong Football Festival, with Premier League side Liverpool also facing AC Milan on 26 July.

Although they’ve never played at the new Kai Tak Stadium, neither Arsenal or Tottenham are strangers to playing in Asia.

In 2012, Arsenal toured Hong Kong, with Spurs taking a trip to Japan and South Korea in 2024.

Gunners managing director, Richard Garlick said: “Everyone at Arsenal is excited to be visiting Hong Kong in July. It’s great to be back with our men’s first-team squad after 13 years, and it gives us the opportunity to meet so many of our fantastic supporters in the region again.

“As well as training hard and playing the match, we cannot wait to connect with our Hong Kong supporters in this wonderful part of the world.

Also visiting Hong Kong this summer are Manchester United. The Red Devils are playing two post-season friendlies – one in Hong Kong and one in Malaysia.

United are one of several Premier League sides due to tour the United States during their pre-season schedule.

Meanwhile, Manchester City and Chelsea have yet to confirm their full pre-season plans.

This is because both are set to take part in the expanded Club World Cup, beginning on 15 June.

Tottenham Vs Arsenal Head-To-Head Record

The two sides of North London are very familiar with each other.

Arsenal and Tottenham have played each other competitively a total of 197 times in all competitions.

They first met during a friendly back in 1887, with the game abandoned 15 minutes from full-time due to loss of light at Spurs’ old Tottenham Marshes ground.

The first league fixture between the two sides was in 1909, with Arsenal winning 1-0.

Since then, the head-to-head record for competitive fixtures stands at 84 wins for Arsenal, 61 for Tottenham and 52 draws.

This season, Arsenal did the double over Spurs, with a 1-0 away win in September followed by a 2-1 victory at the Emirates in January.

Spurs’ last North London Derby win was in May 2022, with a Harry Kane brace and a goal from Son Heung Min earning Tottenham a 3-0 victory.
