Arsenal Interested In Wolves Star Matheus Cunha Amid Starring Role Against Manchester United
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Wolves striker Matheus Cunha as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his attacking options.
Cunha played a starring role for Wolves in their 2-0 victory over Manchester United on Boxing Day.
He scored directly from a corner before providing a late assist for team-mate Hwang Hee-chan.
Arsenal are nine points off leaders Liverpool and recently suffered a massive blow to their aspirations with the injury of Bukayo Saka.
Saka, who has contributed to 22 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions, suffered a hamstring injury and is set to be out for some time.
Raheem Sterling is also out with a knee issue and Mikel Arteta said his Arsenal side ‘are going to be different’ without Saka.
Arsenal Face Battle To Sign Cunha In January
As reported by the Telegraph, Arsenal hold an interest in signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves.
However, they would face a huge battle in attempting to convince Wolves to sell him during the January transfer window.
It would be a challenge given the Brazilian is playing a vital part in Wolves’ fight for survival in the Premier League.
The club will not want to lose such an important asset mid-season. Especially with Wolves’ lowly position in the table – just one point above the relegation zone.
Arsenal are reportedly the favourites to land Cunha in the future. However, they are not the only Premier League club in the race.
The likes of Manchester United, Aston Villa, Newcastle and Tottenham are also keeping tabs.

Cunha Teased Potential Manchester United Move
Though Arsenal are the favourites to sign Matheus Cunha, the Brazilian previously teased a move to another Premier League side.
He liked an Instagram comment under one of his posts suggesting that he should join United.
The comment read: “Manchester United soon,” which was liked by Cunha, as seen in the screenshot below.
It took Red Devils fans a few days to spot the comment and the like. But since catching wind of it, screenshots spread like wildfire across social media.
Wolves fans though were quick to point out though that he simply could’ve liked the comment because they were due to face United.
