Some football fans had tipped Villa for big things this season but after a terrible start, that has seen them score just one league goal in their first five matches – this has led the odds experts to slash the Aston Villa relegation betting odds.

Aston Villa Relegation Betting Odds Cut After Failing To Score In Opening Four Games

Things have looked rosy at Villa Park over the last few seasons.

They finished sixth in the 2024/25 season and will play Europa League football this term – which is why many pundits predicted them to improve on that this campaign.

However, having been dumped out of the Carabao Cup in the third round by Brentford and winless from their opening five Premier League games – Villa’s season has not exactly started well.

They’ve only amassed three league points from their first five games – with two goalless draws against Everton and Newcastle – then losing to Palace and Brentford. Then a recent 1-1 draw against Sunderland.

Villa Cut From 200/1 to 14/1 To Be Relegated

All this has led to the football betting sites slashing the Aston Villa relegation betting odds from 200/1 to 14/1.

Villa’s main issue has been in front of goal – after 58 league goals last season – the Midlands club have somehow managed to score just ONE league goal in their opening five games.

This poor early season start has also seen their boss Unai Emery come under pressure, which is why the next Aston Villa manager betting market has also attracted a lot of activity in recent weeks.

Current Celtic head coach Brendan Rodger is the early favourite with the odds experts to replace Emery, should Villa decide to sack their Spanish manager.

Former Arsenal manager Emery joined Villa back in October 2022 – paying a reported €6m compensation fee to his former club Villarreal.

When Were Aston Villa Last Relegated From The Premier League?

You have to go back to the 2015-16 season when Aston Villa were last relegated from the Premier League.

That season saw Villa struggle in the league – finishing bottom with only 17 points after grabbing just three wins.

They returned to the English top-flight for the 2019-20 season after winning promotion via the play-offs.

Villa managed to win the 2019 EFL Championship play-off final – beating Derby 2-1, thanks to goals from Anwar El Ghazi and John McGinn.

The Midlands club have remained in the Premier League ever since.

However, after a poor start to the 2025/26 season the bookies are taking no chances – cutting the Aston Villa relegation betting odds in the process.
