Az from FPL Blacbox is back with his latest tips, as the expert includes a West Ham star in his best differentials for GW33.
No time to rest, we go immediately from the last Double Gameweek straight into the next, in what will surely be a defining week in our FPL seasons.
If you’re not where you want to be in the rankings, or are hunting down rivals in mini leagues, this may be the article for you as we look at some key differentials heading into Gameweek 33.
FPL GW33 Tips: Best Differentials
Kevin De Bruyne (5% ownership)
What a performance from the City man against Brentford. 2-0 down and sinking without a trace, and KDB decides he’s had enough and puts in one of the all-time great midfield performances to drag his team to a 5-2 win.
The 12 points doesn’t do justice for the impact that he had. What’s more impressive is that he completed (near enough) a full match for the second week running, with Foden nursing a small injury.
Obviously Kev is at risk of rotation with other midfield options in the side. But if feels as though City cannot afford to drop him after his mot recent performance.
In an injury hit season, KDB still has 3 goals and 9 assists and has just 3 home games left at the Etihad. Surely he starts all of those. I wouldn’t back against him being one of FPL’s top scorers between now and the end of the season.
The only issue is do you go for him over the likes of Bukayo Saka? I certainly think there is a case to be made as Arsenal go deeper into Europe. His minutes might be even riskier than De Bruyne’s.
Mikel Merino (3% ownership)
An alternative to Saka – or someone to consider partnering alongside him – is Merino who has made the striker spot his own, failing to start just one of the last 9 league games.
It’s 2 goals in his last 3 starts for the Spaniard, who has definitely grown into the role with a real lack of alternatives to take his place.
The underlying stats aren’t great. In his last 6 matches, Merino (1.05) sits below the likes of Billing (1.07), Hinshelwood (1.10) and Szmodics (1.09) for xGI but as we know, the stats can sometimes be misleading.
He’s got an eye for a goal and is taking up some great positions to go with his great runs. He also now has Saka to supply him, which should boost the number of chances he gets in the side.
The Englishman is clearly the standout option of the Arsenal attack, but I still expect Merino to grab some more goals before the season closes out.
Jarrod Bowen (7% ownership)
It’s been a disappointing return to the Premier League or Graham Potter and he finds himself winless in his last 5 games.
However, it’s a good run of fixtures for the Hammers now until the end of the season, with basement dwellers Southampton and struggling Brighton, Spurs and Manchester United to follow.
Bowen remains the key man for Potter’s side, ever present in the team and consistently churning out performances that merit inclusion in our FPL sides.
Even though there’s no Double on the horizon, I think Bowen could more than make up for this over the next few weeks given the fixtures.
With 16 goals last season and just 8 this year, I expect Jarrod to be doing all he can to add to his tally and finish the season with a bang.
