Luis Diaz replacement

Bundesliga holders Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in Luis Diaz, joining Spanish champions Barcelona in the race for the Premier League-winning Liverpool forward.

Alongside Barcelona and now Bayern, Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr have also been linked with a move for Diaz.

The Colombian international, 28, is contractually tied to Liverpool until June 30, 2027.

Bayern Munich Join Barcelona in the Race for Liverpool Star Luis Diaz

Liverpool forward Luis Diaz has generated a lot of buzz in the transfer market this summer. The former FC Porto forward has drawn significant interest from Barcelona, with reports dubbing him their top summer target. Barca reportedly turned down Kevin De Bruyne to remain open to the possibility of signing Diaz. The Catalan club reportedly tabled an offer for Diaz, but Liverpool were quick to turn it down.

While Barca prepare to produce another potential bid, Bayern Munich have joined the race. According to German outlet BILD, the Bavarians have identified him as a target to strengthen the left-wing position this summer. Nico Williams, Cody Gakpo, and Gabriel Martinelli are also on Bayern’s shortlist.

Meanwhile, as per renowned German reporter Christian Falk, Bayern turned their attention to Diaz after missing out on Real Madrid target Rodrygo. New Madrid boss reportedly wants to keep Rodrygo at the club amid interest from many high-profile clubs. Recently, Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit explained how Rodrygo would be a perfect acquisition for the Gunners.

Luis Diaz Could Cost as Much as £100 Million

As per Spanish transfer news expert, Guillem Balague, Liverpool believe Luis Diaz could fetch as much as £100 million. Their expectation is fueled by the reports of Bruno Fernandes fetching a £100 million offer from Al Hilal.

While Al Nassr could theoretically afford the mega deal, Barcelona are having a hard time fetching £50 million for their second bid. Bayern Munich have also been conservative when it comes to transfers. It will be interesting to see if they will make an exciting enough offer for the Liverpool man.

What Has Luis Diaz Said About His Liverpool Future?

While on international duty with Colombia earlier this month, Luis Diaz opened up about his future. The forward said that while he was happy at Liverpool, he was open to a move. Diaz and his entourage are working to find the best solution for him.

The Colombia star said (via SkySports):

Right now, we’re in contact with them because we’re speaking with [other] clubs. It’s normal, the market is open, and we’re trying to sort out what’s best for us.

I am just waiting to see what happens. If Liverpool doesn’t make a good offer, I still have two years left with them, I would be happy and content to stay there.

He concluded by adding:

And that’s it, everything depends on them obviously, it’s up to me to decide what’s best for us and the future.”

Since joining the club in January 2022, Diaz has played 148 games for the club in all competitions. He has scored 41 goals and provided 23 assists, winning one Premier League title and an FA Cup, among other honours.
