Championship side Birmingham are closing in on the signing of in-demand Swedish Allsvenskan top goalscorer August Priske from Djurgarden.

Allsvenskan top goalscorer August Priske is closing in on a January move to Birmingham City.
Tipsbladet report that the Blues lead the race for the 21-year-old Denmark youth international, with Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas and Ligue 1 outfit Lille also interested in signing him.

Djurgarden are said to be close to agreeing terms with the Championship side to part ways with their star player, while Priske is nearing agreement over the terms of his contract at St Andrew’s.
Austrian side RB Salzburg reportedly saw a €4m (£3.5m) bid rejected for the in-demand youngster last summer, and his market value has only increased in the following months.
This would suggest that Birmingham are set to sign Priske for a fee north of €4m (£3.5m).
He finished top of the Swedish top flight’s goalscoring charts with an impressive 18 goals last term, while he ended the campaign with 23 goals and three assists in 43 in all competitions.
Priske spent time in the academies of Horsens, Midtjylland and Copenhagen in Denmark, before spells on loan at Jong PSV and FC Eindhoven to gain experience in senior football.
The striker joined Djurgarden on a four-year contract in August 2024 after leaving Midtjylland.
Priske Arrival To Hand Chris Davies Boost
Priske’s arrival will come as a major boost for the Blues amid their underwhelming form lately.
They have won just one of their last eight in the second tier, remarkably against table-toppers Coventry, and find themselves in 14th place in the table after playing 26 matches.
Pressure is mounting on head coach Chris Davies as a result, with the former Wales youth international featuring highly in the Championship sack race odds market as second favourite.
Despite this, recent reports suggest that Birmingham chiefs are not planning to sack Davies.
Should their position change in that regard, ex-England interim manager and current England U21 boss Lee Carsley is the favourite in the next Birmingham manager betting odds market.
Davies will be hoping that the acquisition of Priske will help turn his side’s season around.
They are currently seven points adrift of the playoffs and 10 points clear of relegation.
If things don’t start to improve, things could quickly turn sour for Davies, as the more the club spends in the transfer market this winter, the greater the pressure becomes to deliver.
The Blues are next in action away at Swansea on Saturday, where they’ll be looking to extend their winning run to three straight matches after their FA Cup win over Cambridge last weekend.
