Ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup clash, we have the Blackburn vs Wolves preview, prediction, latest team news and predicted lineups.

Blackburn Vs Wolves Preview

Blackburn are one of the most successful sides in FA Cup history with six wins. However, their last victory came back in 1928, 11 years before the start of WW2.

Rovers also holds a record of most consecutive Wembley wins in the competition with three (1884, 1885 and 1886). Their form in the modern era though hasn’t come close to replicating their former glory days.

The 1995 Premier League champions welcome top-flight opposition to Ewood Park on Sunday hoping to cause a minor upset. John Eustace’s side are looking to progress to the 5th round for the third straight season.

In the EFL Championship in 2024/25, the Lancashire side currently occupies a play-off spot but recent results haven’t been too kind to them. On Tuesday, they lost 2-1 to QPR which was their fourth defeat in the last five outings.

Michael Frey opened the scoring at Loftus Road after just five minutes. Tyrhys Dolan equalised from the spot early in the second-half before Jack Colback fired in the winner for Rangers.

Interestingly, the last time Wolves met Sunday’s opponents in the FA Cup was the final in 1960. A Mick McGrath own goal and a brace from Norman Deeley sealed a 3-0 win for the Old Gold.

Prior to that, the West Midlands side won the competition in 1893, 1908 and 1949. They have also lost in the final on four occasions with the last coming in 1939.

More recently, Wanderers got to the semi-final in 2019 whereby they were defeated 3-2 by Watford. The Hornets would go on to lose 6-0 to Manchester City in the final.

Last time out, Vitor Pereira’s side beat rivals Aston Villa 2-0 at Molineux. Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and the in-demand Matheus Cunha netting the all important goals.

Ahead of the Ewood Park showdown, the best football betting sites in the UK make Wolves the 19/25 favourites. Blackburn can be backed at 21/5 with the draw 14/5.

Blackburn Vs Wolves Team News

Harry Pickering, Hayden Carter, Scott Wharton, Sondre Tronstad, Yuki Ohashi and Harry Leonard are all ruled out for Blackburn.

January signing Dion Sanderson is cup-tied having featured for Birmingham in the earlier rounds. Boss John Eustace has said changes will be made to the usual starting XI.

Meanwhile, Wolves will be missing Yerson Mosquera, Enso Gonzalez, Sasa Kalajdzic and Jorgen Strand Larsen. Similar to Eustace, Vitor Pereira is expected to rotate at Ewood Park.

Boubacar Traore is available for selection and deadline day additions Nasser Djiga and Marshall Munetsi could well be included in the matchday squad.

Blackburn Vs Wolves Prediction

Although this tie does offer a hint of a small upset, we are predicting Wolves to banish those worries and win handsomely in Lancashire.

Both sides are expected to make changes but we feel that the Old Gold will still be far too strong for the EFL Championship side.

Prediction: Blackburn 1-3 Wolves
