Brentford vs Sheffield Wednesday Team News
Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday head to the Gtech Community Stadium to take on Brentford in one of two Carabao Cup fourth round ties on Tuesday, with both sides eyeing advancement to the quarter-finals.
The Bees head into midweek action having enjoyed a mighty comeback victory against Ipswich on Saturday, where Bryan Mbeumo netted a 96th-minute winner to secure a 4-3 triumph after initially going 2-0 down in the first-half.
It was a bounce back victory for Thomas Frank’s side too, as they were beaten 2-1 by Manchester United in Gameweek 8, and they now sit in a respectable ninth place in the Premier League table after nine matches.
“The approach is that we will go very strong and we will take this very seriously – I have said that from the beginning of the tournament.
We’ve got big respect for the competition, we’ve got big respect for Wednesday."

Brentford booked their spot in the fourth round draw by defeating Colchester 1-0 in the second round and Leyton Orient 3-1 in the third round, while Sheffield Wednesday did so by beating Hull, Grimsby and Blackpool.
The Owls come into cup action this week in decent form, with just one defeat across their last six second-tier matches. At the weekend, they edged out Portsmouth with a 2-1 scoreline, propelling them up to 13th place in the table.
Wednesday meet Brentford in competitive play for the first time since the Bees’ promotion-winning season in 2020/21. The West London side came out on top in both meetings that season, with 2-1 and 3-0 scorelines.
Brentford Team News
All of Kristoffer Ajer (foot), Igor Thiago (knee), Aaron Hickey (thigh), Gustavo Nunes (back), Josh Dasilva (knee) and Rico Henry (knee) are expected to miss out on Sheffield Wednesday’s visit through injury.
There could be a return to the lineup for midfielder Mathias Jensen however, after the Dane made his return to the squad from a calf injury at the weekend, entering from the bench for the final 20 minutes of the clash.
Kevin Schade and Fabio Carvalho, who both started against Leyton Orient in the last round, could return to the lineup, potentially alongside Mikkel Damsgaard or Keane Lewis-Potter, while Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa should be rested.
Sheffield Wednesday Team News
Despite claiming a crucial three points against Portsmouth on Saturday, there was some disappointment for Danny Röhl and his side as central defender Akin Famewo was forced off with a muscular injury.
The 25-year-old faces several weeks on the sidelines according to reports, and he joins Olaf Kobacki (muscular), Nathaniel Chalobah (muscular) and Ben Hamer on the treatment table.
Also ruled out of the tie is Pol Valentin, who has picked up an accumulation of yellow cards.

Brentford vs Sheffield Wednesday Prediction
The UK’s best football betting sites are heavily favouring Brentford to advance to the last eight with a win in 90 minutes on Tuesday, and we at SportsCasting tend to agree, so we’re backing the Bees to comfortably prevail.
Even with a rotated side, Frank’s men should have no issues causing problems for the Owls, especially at home, and if they find themselves struggling at any point, they’ll have plenty of quality to bring on from the bench.
Recent history between the pair points towards a Brentford victory too, as they have come out on top in each of their last three meetings. We simply cannot see anything other than a home win in this one.
Prediction: Brentford 3-0 Sheffield Wednesday
