After his straight-sets victory over Karen Khachanov at the China Open, Carlos Alcaraz confesses he is ready for ‘war’ with Daniil Medvedev.Â
The duo will meet for a place in the final in Beijing after Alcaraz made light work of Khachanov on Monday afternoon. Needing just 56 minutes to beat his rival, the 21-year-old has set up a mouthwatering semi-final against Medvedev.
Alcaraz will return to World No. 2 next week and he could be doing so as the China Open champion. Jannik Sinner is also in the semis so his path to glory will need to be thoroughly earned.
Earlier this week, Alcaraz reached a personal milestone after beating Tallon Griekspoor. It was his 200th career victory and he completed the feat at a younger age than Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer.

Carlos Alcaraz Meets Daniil Medvedev In The China Open Semi-Final
The highly anticipated Carlos Alcaraz vs Daniil Medvedev semi-final promises to be a cracker. However, Alcaraz knows just how tough it will be.
“It’s always difficult facing Medvedev, I’ve played great matches against him earlier this year, during the last couple of years,” Alcaraz said.
“I’m ready to take that challenge, to try to play my best tennis to pass him. It’s always a war, long rallies, long matches when I play against him. But I’m ready to take that challenge.”
Over the course of their tennis careers, Alcaraz holds the advantage over Medvedev. At the time of writing, the Spaniard has won five times and lost just twice in seven matches.
Two of those victories were secured earlier this year. Once in the semi-final of Wimbledon and the other in the final at Indian Wells.
Medvedev’s last victory came in the 2023 US Open semi-final in New York. He would go on to lose in straight-sets to Novak Djokovic.
