Ranking Every 2024/25 EFL Championship Club By Their Record Signing

Here at SportsCasting, we’ve ranked every 2024/25 EFL Championship club by their most expensive purchase and there’s a number of star names included. 

Championship club record signings have seen an array of international stars join their new employers and go on to be a huge success. Others have proven to be a complete monetary failure.

As it stands, Leeds United take top spot when they splashed out £35.5m for Georginio Rutter in 2023. The Frenchman joined when the Whites when they were still a Premier League club.

Unsurprisingly, the Yorkshire giants also claimed top spot when it comes to ranking Championship wage bills for the 2024/25 season.

Daniel Farke’s side also came third when ranking this year’s teams by Championship stadium capacity. Only Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday boast bigger grounds.

Completing the podium positions are Watford and Sheffield United. The Hornets laid out a reported £28.8m for Ismaila Sarr in 2019 with the Blades splashing out £23.5m for Rhian Brewster in 2020.

In fact, the vast majority of the 2024/25 Championship clubs record signings were made when they were a top-flight side. Therefore, those who have never reached the promised land rank towards the bottom of the table.
