The nominees for the 2025 Yachine Trophy have been revealed, with Chelsea goalkeeper Hannah Hampton featuring on the list ahead of the Ballon d’Or ceremony.

Chelsea Goalkeeper Nominated For Ballon d’Or Award

Chelsea number one Hannah Hampton is among the nominees for the 2025 Yachine Trophy, set to be presented to the world’s best goalkeeper at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in September.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a stellar campaign for both club and country.

Hampton played a vital role in the Blues’ run to winning a domestic treble, having secured the Women’s Super League title, the Women’s FA Cup and the FA Women’s League Cup.

She also won the WSL Golden Glove, shared with Manchester United’s Phallon Tullis-Joyce, after keeping 13 clean sheets throughout Chelsea’s 22-game unbeaten season in the league.

Additionally, she became England’s first-choice stopper ahead of Mary Earps earlier this year and starred as the Lionesses won a second successive European Championship at Euro 2025.

Hampton saved penalties from Barcelona star Aitana Bonmati and Arsenal’s Mariona Caldentey in the final, as Sarina Wiegman’s side secured a penalty shootout win over Spain.

The Spanish were favoured by UK betting sites ahead of the clash, but the Birmingham-born goalkeeper’s standout performance between the sticks helped inspire the English to victory.

Nominated alongside Hampton are Ann-Katrin Berger of Gotham, Cata Coll of Barcelona, Chiamaka Nnadozie of Brighton, formerly of Paris FC, and Daphne van Domselaar of Arsenal.

The winner will be announced at the Ballon d’Or ceremony on Monday, 22 September. It will take place at the Theatre du Chatelet in the centre of the French capital, Paris.

Alisson, Martinez, Raya and Sels Nominated For Men’s Award

Premier League quartet Alisson Becker, Emiliano Martinez, David Raya and Matz Sels have all been nominated for the men’s version of the award.

Martinez, who Manchester United were previously leading the race to sign and a winner in 2023 and 2024, is looking to win the accolade for a third straight year.

Alisson, meanwhile, will be hoping to add to his 2019 title, while PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma and Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois are also aiming to win for a second time in their careers.

Donnarumma is currently the bookmakers’ favourite, having won the Champions League, Ligue 1 and Coupe de France with Les Parisiens this term. On top of that, he starred for the French giants at this summer’s Club World Cup, where they finished as runners-up.

Completing the list of nominees are Yassine Bounou of Al-Hilal, Lucas Chevalier of Lille, Jan Oblak of Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan’s Yann Sommer.
