Chelsea player sales

Chelsea are hoping to raise £500 million from transfers this summer as the London club tries to offload a huge amount of talent and trim their squad.

Enzo Maresca’s side has already made a number of top acquisitions so far this window.

Former Brighton striker Joao Pedro and Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens have both joined for close to £50 million each.

And Manchester City academy graduate Liam Delap has made a £30 million move after impressing despite Ipswich Town’s relegation last season.

Elsewhere, Chelsea have also signed Estevao (£29 million), Dario Essugo (£19 million), Mamadou Sarr (£12 million) and Kendry Perez (£8.5 million).

There’s certainly no lack of depth at Stamford Bridge, with no fewer than four Chelsea stars named in the Club World Cup team of the tournament.

But with profit and sustainability rules tighter than ever, the club must offset their spending with outgoings.

Chelsea Player Sales Necessary To Balance The Books

On the field, it’s been a strong start to the summer, with Chelsea’s Premier League odds slashed after their Club World Cup win.

But in the transfer market, Chelsea have made no secret of their desire to sell a huge number of players this summer.

According to reports, the Blues may be willing to offload up to £500 million worth of talent.

Some of those sales have already been made.

Most notably, England international Noni Madueke has joined Arsenal.

The 23-year-old scored 11 times for Chelsea last season and earned his first senior caps.

But he has now made the short move across London to join Arsenal in a deal worth £48 million.

As well as Madueke, goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic has joined Bournemouth for £25 million.

To date, six senior players have completed permanent moves away from Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea aren’t done there.

Chelsea Transfers Still To Come

As well as those already sold, it has been widely reported that the 12 players listed above are still very much up for sale.

We have listed their estimated market value, but the actual fees Chelsea will demand for most of these stars will probably be far greater.

The likes of Robert Sanchez, Renato Veiga, Ben Chillwell, Axel Disasi and Wesley Fofana are all surplus to requirements.

Winger Raheem Sterling is one of a dozen Chelsea players still for sale.

Having failed to offload him last season, Trevor Chalobah’s future remains in doubt.

And despite following manager Enzo Maresca from Leicester City, midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has struggled for game time and is destined for the exit.

Fellow midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu had a mediocre loan to relegated Southampton last term, meaning he and Carney Chukwumeka will most likely be sold.

Christopher Nkunku has been told he can leave, while Raheem Sterling is also looking for a new club after returning from a disappointing loan to Arsenal.

At the time of writing, the best football betting sites are suggesting Sterling’s next club could well be Juventus, with the Italian giants 7/2 favourites to sign him.
