‘We Know How Inconsistent United Are’ – Chris Sutton Predicts Wolves Will Do the Double Over Man Utd
Footballer-turned-pundit Chris Sutton has predicted Wolverhampton Wanderers will beat Manchester United for the second time in the Premier League this season. Sutton has backed Wolves to walk away with a comfortable 3-1 victory in their Matchday 33 meeting.
Manchester United have been all over the place this season, especially in the Premier League. Picking up a mere 38 points in 32 games in the English top flight, they find themselves in 14th place in the rankings. Man Utd’s worst Premier League showing came last season, as they finished eighth in the standings. Their lowest point total, meanwhile, came in 2021-22, as they finished with 58 points. This season, they average 1.19 points per game. Unless they fix their act, and soon, they will end the season with just 45.
Wolves have also had a tough time this season, as they find themselves in 16th place with 35 points on the board. However, their recent form has been admirable, with them winning their last four games in the competition (4 W, 1 D in last 5). Only Newcastle United have picked up more points (15) in their last five outings.
Chris Sutton Makes Blunt Man Utd vs Wolves Prediction
In their previous Premier League meeting in December, Wolves came away with a 2-0 victory over Wolves at Molineux Stadium. Matheus Cunha (58′) and Hwang Hee-Chan (90’+9) scored a goal each to secure the victory.
In his BBC column, Sutton predicted Wolves would have no trouble doing the double over Man Utd in their upcoming Premier League meeting.

Sutton revealed:
“Wolves have already beaten Manchester United once this season and, on current form, they are favourites this time too. Vitor Pereira’s side are flying with four straight wins, and we know how inconsistent United are.
“I am going to give Bruno Fernandes a goal, because he has been one of the few United players who can hold their head up high with their performances this season, but at the moment, Wolves look well-balanced, and they are the better team.”
He continued:
“United’s whole campaign is still hanging on what happens in the Europa League, and we will have to wait and see whether their incredible late comeback to beat Lyon on Thursday to reach the semi-finals changes anything about their awful Premier League form.
“I am sorry to say this, but I am expecting their fans to have another miserable afternoon at Old Trafford, where they have already lost more league games (seven) than they have won (six) this season.”
Sutton’s prediction: Man Utd 1-3 Wolves
Manchester United will enter the game against Lyon on the back of a thrilling 5-4 win over Lyon in the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals. It is only Man Utd’s second-ever 5-4 victory in history (previous one against Arsenal).
