Chelsea and Bayern Munich have reportedly reached a stalemate over the transfer of Christopher Nkunku.
The former RB Leipzig star has fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge, is seeking an exit.
Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl is determined to sign Nkunku. He has been negotiating intensively with Chelsea in recent days.
Nkunku is currently 1/2 favourite with football betting sites to sign for Bayern.
Christopher Nkunku Transfer in Jeopardy As Chelsea and Bayern Talks Stall
Chelsea want to free up some room by selling Christopher Nkunku, whereas Bayern Munich are seeking a top attacker. However, there is a disparity between what the Blues want and what the Bavarians are offering.
According to Sport Bild’s Julian Agardi and Tobi Altschaffl, Nkunku’s agent, Pini Zahavi, met with Chelsea bosses to discuss the Nkunku situation. After the meeting, Zahavi communicated to Bayern that Chelsea were likely to keep the player for at least one more season.

This is due to the mismatch in Chelsea’s expectations and Bayern’s commitment. While Chelsea want to transfer Nkunku on a permanent deal, Bayern are only interested in signing him on loan. They are, however, reportedly open to adding a mandatory purchase clause in Nkunku’s contract.
Chelsea Set Lofty Price Tag for Nkunku
Chelsea seemingly rate Christopher Nkunku highly and have set a rather steep price tag for the versatile forward. According to Sky Sports, the Blues want €50 million (£43 million) for the French forward this summer. They could use said funds to sign Marc Guehi, who has reappeared on their radar after Levi Colwill’s ACL injury.
The Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) academy graduate is eager to move to Munich this summer. He admires Bayern and believes the Bundesliga is the perfect destination for him.
According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, there is complete agreement between the player and the German club. However, since Nkunku still has four years remaining on his contract, he cannot secure the move unless Chelsea and Bayern come to an agreement.

Nkunku is not the only attack-minded player Bayern are interested in this summer. They are also negotiating with VfB Wolfsburg attacking midfielder Nick Woltemade. Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen is in charge of negotiations.

Christopher Nkunku joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023. The Pensioners paid around €60 million (£51.8 million) for his services.  Struggling with injuries, Nkunku has only played 62 games for the club in all competitions, scoring 18 goals and providing five assists.
He has won one UEFA Europa Conference League (2025) and one FIFA Club World Cup (2025) with the club.
