Below is SportsCasting‘s guide to tell you all you need to know when it comes to Saturday’s Collins vs Lorente European 126-pound clash.
Nathaniel Collins vs Cristobal Lorente Betting Tips
- Nathaniel Collins WIN via KO/TKO @ 15/8
- Nathaniel Collins WIN via KO/TKO in Rounds 5-8 @ 5/1
When it comes to betting tips for the Nathaniel Collins vs Cristobal Lorente fight this weekend in Glasgow, there is certainly money to be made judging by the latest odds.
Despite being the champion and current EBU Featherweight Title holder, Lorente is in fact the 7/2 underdog with boxing betting sites to successfully retain his 126-pound European belt.
Collins on the other hand is the 1/5 favourite to become the new champion and hand the Spaniard his first defeat in front of his hometown Scottish crowd.
Many fans regard the 26-year-old as a top 10 in the British pound-for-pound rankings, and winning this fight will only add to his star power.
Last time out was a career-best performance for Collins, who knocked out fellow countryman Lee McGregor inside four rounds in what was being billed as a real 50/50 clash.
After that fight, boxing fans are really believing the hype and getting on board with Collins now. Both men are undefeated here, but we see it being another successful night for the Scottish featherweight.
Having won eight of his 17 fights via knockout, Collins perhaps isn’t renowned as a huge puncher. That being said, his last fight was a conclusive finish against a high level operator.
With that in mind, here at SportsCasting we feel the Scotsman could add another knockout to his record as well as becoming European Featherweight Champion in the process.
At odds of 15/8 to win by KO/TKO, this is our Collins vs Lorente betting tip for the weekend’s action in Glasgow.
Our boxing expert also feels the knockout could come somewhere in the mid-rounds, so 5/1 for Collins to win by KO/TKO in Rounds 5-8 is another standout prediction for the weekend.
Nathaniel Collins to WIN via KO/TKO @ 15/8
Judging by the latest odds, it is clear that Nathaniel Collins is a fairly handy favourite to beat Cristobal Lorente on Saturday, October 4 in Glasgow.
Although as shot as 1/5 to win the fight outright, backing Collins to win via a particular method presents huge value. Given his performance last time out against Lee McGregor, it’s hard not to side with Collins to win via knockout once again.
The 29-year-old has eight knockouts in his 17 victories, but when you look more in-depth at his resume it’s clear to see the better the opposition, the better Collins performs.
Hence why we are tipping Nathan Collins to stop Cristobal Lorente and become European Featherweight Champion on Saturday night at the Braehead Arena.
Should he win in style, the possibility of being the opponent for Nick Ball’s next fight could genuinely happen for Collins. Time will tell if that is the case or not.
Nathaniel Collins to WIN via KO/TKO in Rounds 5-8 @ 5/1
Despite being the champion, Cristobal Lorente got incredibly lucky last time out. He drew with Spain’s Ruben Gil, with many people feeling he actually got beaten fair and square.
Lorente won’t get the same treatment in Scotland, and we don’t think he’ll need to worry about getting a decision either with Collins dispatching of him before then.
Of his eight stoppage victories, two of these have come in Rounds 5-8. The last was against James Beech Jnr in March 2023, with some coming earlier and some coming later since.
We feel that Lorente will be cautious in the early rounds, forcing Collins to bide his time. However, we foresee the 17-0 Scottish star getting to the Spaniard in the middle rounds before stopping him in conclusive fashion.
Nathaniel Collins vs Cristobal Lorente Preview
All eyes are on the Braehead Arena this weekend as Nathaniel Collins vs Cristobal Lorente headlines in a European Featherweight Title fight.
Collins has secured both the British and Commonwealth titles already at 126-pounds, with the European strap the next natural step.
This could be a master stroke in matchmaking from Frank Warren, who may have got Collins the perfect fight at the perfect time.
If Collins goes on to win the EBU Featherweight Title, there is no going back. It’s only European or world level fights from here on out.
With the retirement of Josh Taylor, Scotland is crying out for a new star. Nathaniel Collins could be that man to fill the void left by the ‘Tartan Tornado’, who was forced to retire earlier this year due to ongoing eye issues.
Win this and the Scotsman could have his sights set on becoming the first man to derail the perfect Nick Ball record if he earns a shot at the WBA World Featherweight Champion next.
Collins will have to have his wits about him come fight night as Lorente is a seasoned operator. He’s held the European title since July last year, and won’t want to give it up anytime soon.
What a fight we are in for in Glasgow this weekend as Collins vs Lorente headlines this Queensberry Promotions card with several intriguing fights on the undercard too.
