Conor McGregor Loses Huge Bet After Jake Paul Defeats Mike Tyson

What would a huge sporting event be without a Conor McGregor bet? Well, the Irishman has lost another huge wager after Jake Paul defeated Mike Tyson.

What Was The Conor McGregor Bet?

The MMA star lost a staggering $1million bet on Friday night after Jake Paul got the better of Mike Tyson after eight closely contested rounds.

It was the first leg of a double, with McGregor putting his money on a Tyson KO and a Jon Jones stoppage against Stipe Miocic.

The Irishman put his faith in ‘Iron’ Mike despite Paul being 31 years younger than him, whilst also betting on Jones to beat Miocic at UFC 309 which takes place on Saturday. Miocic is making his long awaited return to the octagon after two years, meanwhile Jones is coming back after 18 months away.

Roughly an hour before Tyson and Paul’s bout, McGregor took to social media, confirming his bet: “My two fight bets this weekend! Tyson KO, Jones Stoppage. $1million double on.”

Unfortunately for the former UFC champion, his bet was over before the 2nd leg of the double even got underway. Tyson lost his first fight in 19 years via unanimous decision, with the 58-year-old looking slow and lethargic in the ring.

Following the defeat, he deleted his tweet where he posted his bet, but millions saw it anyway.

Despite his loss on Friday, the 36-year-old stated last month that he was ‘up $7.7million in gambling profits this year’ after he bet on Spain to win the Euros and Argentina to win the Copa America.

McGregor hasn’t fought in the UFC since losing to Dustin Poirier in 2021, where he suffered a gruesome broken leg. He was scheduled to face Michael Chandler earlier this year, but was forced to pull out due to a toe injury.
