Coventry Vs Ipswich Preview, Prediction, Team News And Predicted Lineups
Here at SportsCasting, we have the Coventry vs Ipswich preview, prediction, latest team news and predicted lineups ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup 4th round clash.
Coventry Vs Ipswich Preview
After their 2-0 midweek defeat to Leeds, Coventry’s attentions turn back to the FA Cup. Last season’s beaten semi-finalists edged past Sheffield Wednesday in the 3rd round to set up a clash against Premier League opposition.
Since Frank Lampard took over at the CBS Arena, the Sky Blues have enjoyed a rich vein of form which has seen them close in on a play-off spot.
The former Chelsea midfielder has only lost once on home soil since taking charge. That defeat came against the Whites on February 5.
Prior to that, the East Midlands-side had won their last four league games on the bounce. That run started off of the back of the penalty shootout win against the Owls in the previous round.
Interestingly, Coventry could become the first side in FA Cup history to have three consecutive matches be determined from 12 yards. The first was the heartbreaking semi-final loss to Man United last season.

Ipswich will be looking to get back to winning ways after their surprising 2-1 defeat to Southampton on the weekend. The Tractor Boys have actually lost their last four league games by an aggregate score of 14-2.
Kieran McKenna’s side will welcome the cup game as an ideal distraction from their Premier League troubles. Last season, the Blues managed to pick up a vital 2-1 win in the East Midlands.
A repeat outcome will provide the perfect remedy as McKenna tries to get that winning feeling back into his men. Ironically, the last victory the Portman Road faithful celebrated came against Bristol Rovers in the previous round.
The last time the Suffolk side progressed past the 4th round came in the 2006/07 season. That was as far as their journey came as Watford won 1-0.
Ahead of Saturday’s clash, the best football betting sites in the UK make Ipswich the 27/20 favourites. Coventry can be backed at 9/4 with the draw 5/2.
Coventry Vs Ipswich Team News
Ben Sheaf, Haji Wright and Ephron Mason-Clark are all ruled out for Coventry. New winter addition Matt Grimes is cup-tied after appearing for Swansea in the previous round.
Brandon Thomas-Asante was hauled off at half-time of the 2-0 defeat to Leeds. His substitution isn’t feared to be fitness related so he should be available for selection.
Meanwhile, Ipswich won’t be able to call upon January signing Julio Enciso who is also cup-tied. However, Jaden Philogene and Alex Palmer can be called upon.
On the injury front, Sammie Szmodics, Conor Chaplin, Chiedozie Ogbene and Wes Burns will all miss out. The latter is likely to miss the remainder of the season.
