Reports are circulating that UFC Middleweight Champion Dricus du Plessis could be side-lined for at least six months with latest injury.

That’s according to middleweight contender Caio Borralho who claims ‘Stilllknocks’ won’t be defending his UFC Middleweight Title against Khamzat Chimaev anytime soon because of a serious injury.

Dricus Du Plessis Injury Concern Mounts With Potential Six-Month Layoff

UFC Middleweight Champion Dricus du Plessis was expected to be defending his 185-pound belt this summer, perhaps even at UFC 317 in International Fight Week.

There had been various reports that ‘Stillknocks’ would defend his UFC Middleweight Title against #1 contender Khamzat Chimaev, but that fight is now in doubt.

This is due to reported injury concern for the South African MMA phenom. Dricus du Plessis is supposedly injured and could face up to six-months on the sidelines.

For this reason, Dricus du Plessis vs Khamzat Chimaev is doubtful for the summer, and might not happen until the back end of the year. Whether or not Chimaev has a fight in the interim or not remains to be seen, but for now it seems du Plessis is out of action for at least another six months.

This is yet to be confirmed by UFC President Dana White, with du Plessis himself neither confirming or denying the injury rumours.

Both veteran MMA journalist Kevin Iole and UFC middleweight contender Caio Borralho both revealed on separate occasions that they have heard of Dricus du Plessis’ injury setback.

UFC Middleweight Contender Caio Borralho Claims Dricus Du Plessis Is Seriously Injured

Although there has been absolutely no confirmation that Dricus du Plessis is indeed injured and could be out for a further six months, ‘Stillknocks’ did respond to Khamzat Chimaev on social media whilst hinting at injury rumours being true.

Although the South Africa basically confirmed his injury absence, he didn’t clarify what ailment he is dealing with or how long he is expected to be side-lined for exactly.

That being said, Brazilian MMA star Caio Borralho has revealed that he heard from various reliable sources that du Plessis has broken his shin and will be out for at least six months.

During a recent interview with AG Fight, Borralho revealed all about Dricus du Plessis’ reported injury and disclosed exactly how long he expects the UFC middleweight king to be out for:

“I found out from a reliable source that Dricus had been injured, but nothing was confirmed,” Borralho said during an interview with AG Fight.

“I also heard from another source, a little closer to Dricus’ camp, that it was a more serious injury. He broke his shin or something like that, he’ll be out for about six months,” the UFC middleweight contender revealed.

Time will tell whether or not these injury rumours are true, and if Dricus du Plessis will indeed be side-lined for at least six months with a broken shin or some other injury.
