Rumours are circulating that Dustin Poirier could fight Nate Diaz in his UFC retirement fight with ‘Diamond’ seeking an opponent for his farewell bout.
Who Could Dustin Poirier Fight In His Last Fight?
Dustin Poirier has had quite the MMA career, that’s for sure. He is a UFC stalwart and has had plenty of highs and lows in his career, with potentially one more big night left in him before he hands up his gloves for good.
The 36-year-old has revealed that he wishes to have one more fight before retiring, with fans adding their opinion on who ‘The Diamond’ should face in his farewell bout.
Plenty of names have been thrown about as potential opponents for the three-time UFC Lightweight Title challenger, but as of yet none have been confirmed.
As of today, Poirier is 36-years-old and has had a total of 40 fights in his MMA career. A staggering 31 of these bouts have come in the UFC, with just nine fights of Poirier’s happening outside of the organisation before he became a UFC fighter.
During his incredible career, ‘The Diamond’ has challenged for the 155-pound belt on three separate occasions. Unfortunately, Poirier has lost all three to Khabib Nurmagomedov, Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev respectively.
However, he also has some monumental wins too with victories over Conor McGregor, Max Holloway, Justin Gaethje, Dan Hooker and Michael Chandler to name but a few. Now, it is strongly rumoured that Poirier could bow out of the UFC with one final fight against a fellow MMA legend.

Could Dustin Poirier’s Retirement Fight Be Against Nate Diaz?
The latest rumour doing the rounds on social media is that Dustin Poirier could fight former UFC fighter Nate Diaz in his farewell contest. This would of course involve Diaz coming back to the UFC, where he hasn’t had a fight since September 2022.
However, there have bene strong rumours that UFC President Dana White has been having conversations with Diaz over a potential return to the octagon in 2025. Time will tell if this is the case or not, but for now there are strong rumours that Poirier vs Diaz could legitimately happen this year.
If a fight between Poirier and Diaz was to materialise, it would likely land on the main card of a UFC pay-per-view. Both Diaz and Poirier remain huge names in MMA circles, despite both being in the latter stages of their respective careers.
Should a fight between the pair get officially made, Poirier would likely go in a the favorite with the best UFC betting sites. This is due to the fact Diaz hasn’t fought an MMA fight in two-and-a-half-years, with Poirier still very much active.
Not only that, but ‘The Diamond’ remains a top fighter in the lightweight division, ranked at #4 still in the official UFC 155-pound rankings. Should a fight between Nate Diaz and Dustin Poirier get made, it would be a fitting bout for perhaps both MMA legends to end their careers on.
