Eintracht Frankfurt were involved in another goal fest on Tuesday night, which begs the question – are they the most entertaining team to watch in Europe this season?
Atletico Madrid Breeze Past Eintracht Frankfurt
Having claimed a thumping 5-1 win over Turkish giants Galatasaray on MD1 of the Champions League league phase, Eintracht Frankfurt headed into MD2 occupying top spot in the table.
It was an entirely different test this time around though, as they travelled to Madrid to face Atleti.
The LaLiga giants came into the clash off the back of a 5-2 win over Real Madrid on Saturday.
Looking to build on that excellent derby performance, they got off to a flying start at the Metropolitano on Tuesday, with Giacomo Raspadori opening the scoring after just four minutes.
Robin Le Normand added a second on 33 minutes, before it went from bad to worse for Frankfurt on the stroke of half time, with Antoine Griezmann extending the hosts’ lead to 3-0.

Atleti boss Diego Simeone was sent off for clashing with Liverpool fans on MD1, but despite having to watch from the stands, he was visibly delighted with his side’s first half showing.
Jonathan Burkardt struck back to make it 3-1 on 57 minutes, but it failed to inspire a fightback. A goal apiece for Giuliano Simeone and Julian Alvarez followed, sealing a 5-1 win for Atleti.
Are Frankfurt The Most Entertaining Team To Watch In Europe?
The result was the latest in a long line of high-scoring fixtures involving Frankfurt this term.
Each of their eight competitive fixtures across all competitions, both domestically and continentally, have seen a minimum of four goals being scored over the course of 90 minutes.
Saturday’s Bundesliga clash against Borussia Monchengladbach is their highest-scoring fixture thus far this term. A total of 10 goals were scored, with Frankfurt prevailing 6-4 at full time.
It followed on from a seven-goal thriller against Union Berlin, where they suffered a 4-3 loss.
Across Europe’s top five leagues, Frankfurt are third in terms of goals scored with 17. Only Bayern Munich (22) and Barcelona (21) have scored more in their respective domestic leagues.
They are also joint-sixth in terms of goals conceded with a total of 13. Only Girona (16), Levante (14), Lorient (14), Werder Bremen (14) and West Ham (14) have shipped more league goals.
In total, 47 goals have been scored in their eight competitive matches across all competitions in 2025-26. That’s an incredible average of 5.875 goals being scored per game.
Dino Toppmoller’s side return to action on Saturday against the top scorers in Europe’s top five leagues – Bayern Munich – in what looks set to be another high-scoring affair.
They then travel to Freiburg after October’s internationals, before returning to the Champions League against Premier League leaders Liverpool on MD3 of the league phase.
