Everton Target Leeds CEO Angus Kinnear

Leeds United’s chief executive, Angus Kinnear, has reportedly been identified as a potential candidate for the chief executive officer (CEO) position at Everton.

The development comes as Everton undergo significant changes under their new ownership, The Friedkin Group (TFG), including their new Bramley Moore Dock stadium.

Everton’s New Era Under The Friedkin Group

In December 2024, TFG, led by billionaire Dan Friedkin, completed their acquisition of Everton, ending Farhad Moshiri’s eight-year tenure.

The takeover marked a pivotal moment for the club, with TFG expressing a commitment to restoring Everton to its “rightful place in the Premier League table.”

Dan Friedkin assumed the role of chairman, while Marc Watts, president of TFG, was appointed executive chairman.

The new ownership has emphasised “thoughtful and strategic investment” in the men’s first-team squad, the academy, and the women’s team, aiming for both financial stability and improved on-field performance.

Angus Kinnear’s Potential Move to Everton

Angus Kinnear has been with Leeds for nearly eight years, playing a crucial role in the club’s operations.

His previous experience includes positions at Arsenal, where he served as commercial director during the club’s transition to the Emirates Stadium, and at West Ham United.

Kinnear is currently the sole remaining senior figure from former chairman Andrea Radrizzani’s tenure on the Elland Road board of directors.

According to reports, recruitment agency Nolan Partners have been engaged to identify suitable candidates for Everton’s CEO role, leveraging their expertise in placing high-level sports executives.

While Kinnear is among those shortlisted, there has been no official approach at this stage.

A Leeds spokesperson said that the club’s focus remains on their promotion campaign, with Leeds currently leading the Championship table with 13 games remaining, aiming for a return to the Premier League.

As Everton embark on this new chapter under TFG, the potential appointment of an experienced executive like Angus Kinnear could play a pivotal role in achieving the club’s ambitious objectives.
