In the latest Everton transfer update, striker Neal Maupay has completed a move to Olympique Marseille – the French side have confirmed. Maupay returns to his native France on a season-long loan deal, with an obligation to buy in 2025 for a fee of around £5m. Joining the Toffees from Brighton in 2022, 28-year-old Maupay made 32 appearances for Sean Dyche’s side, scoring one goal. Last season, he rejoined former club Brentford on loan, where he managed eight goals from 31 matches. With the French forward entering the final year of his contract, Everton have opted to part ways. Maupay, who did not play in either of the club’s opening two Premier League fixtures, links up with former Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi at Marseille. The Ligue 1 club have already signed former Premier League regulars Mason Greenwood and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg during the summer window. Meanwhile, Everton have brought in Ilman Ndiaye, Tim Iroegbunam and Jake O’Brien, and are still hopeful of completing a loan move for 26-year-old Lyon midfielder, Orel Mangala.
