Arsenal have reportedly made a late swoop for long-time Tottenham Hotspur target Eberechi Eze, with Fabrizio Romano calling it a done deal.
The Gunners made the move in a matter of hours, after losing Kai Havertz to a knee injury.
Until Arsenal hijacked their move on Wednesday, Tottenham were massive 3/10 favourites with football betting sites to sign Eze.
Arsenal Hijack Tottenham Move for Eberechi Eze
Late on Wednesday, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano announced Arsenal had agreed a deal with Crystal Palace for Eberechi Eze. Verbal agreement was also in place with the Englishman.
“Eberechi Eze to Arsenal, here we go! Verbal agreement in place between all parties”, he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“Crystal Palace to receive [a] package in excess of £60m as Eze preferred AFC over Spurs. Arsenal win race over Tottenham, been in advanced talks for days but never sealed.”

Eze’s affinity for Arsenal is no surprise, as he spent five years with Arsenal Youth before joining Fulham Youth in 2011.
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed both Eze and Liverpool-linked Marc Guehi will play in the Conference League qualifier against Fredrikstad on Thursday. There are concerns about whether they will be cup-tied if they play for Palace in the Conference League qualifier. But it reportedly did not stop Arsenal from agreeing a massive deal.
Fans Mock Tottenham for Losing Eze to Arsenal
Fans have not been kind towards Tottenham following Fabrizio Romano’s confirmation.
@Choji_ES listed all the moves that did not pan out for Tottenham this summer.
“Went for João Pedro ➝ Chelsea hijacked the deal right under their nose. Went for Morgan Gibbs-White ➝ Forest gave him a new deal, Went for Bryan Mbeumo ➝ Manchester United carried him away. Went for Antoine Semenyo ➝ Bournemouth said “loyalty over Spurs” and tied him down Went for Eberechi Eze ➝ Arsenal snatched him like a thief in few minutes.”

Spurs fan @ProTottenham demanded that the top brass walk out after the snub.
“Tottenham took 2 weeks to even get to the “advanced negotiations” stage Arsenal wrap the finances up within 2 hours Disgrace from Levy, absolute embarrassment of a footballing chairman Charlatan”
Chelsea fan @CFC_Janty chimed in, writing:
“Arsenal fully embarrassed Spurs LMAOOO”
@_AsiwajuLerry right away called Tottenham a “disgrace” to the sport.
“Tottenham, you’re a disgrace to this beautiful sport called Football.”
Eze joined Palace from Queens Park Rangers in the summer of 2020. He has since played 169 games, scoring 40 goals, providing 28 assists, and winning two trophies.
