Federico Chiesa – Liverpool vs Accrington FA Cup Highlights

Watch the highlights from Liverpool’s 4-0 victory over Accrington Stanley in the third round of the FA Cup.

It was a dream tie for Accrignton Stanley, who travelled to Anfield for the first time since their reformation in the mid-1960s.

Liverpool have safely booked their place into the fourth round of the FA Cup with a dominant 4-0 win.

16-year-old Rio Ngumoha started the game and made a promising impression, but it was Diogo Jota that broke the deadlock after half an hour following a quick counterattack set up by Darwin Nunez.

The Reds then doubled their advantage on the stroke of halftime through a stunning strike by Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Accrington forced early pressure in the second half and could have grabbed a goal back when Josh Woods’ shot hit the crossbar, before Ben Woods missed a wonderful chance from a corner.

The away side were made to pay as substitute Jayden Danns added a third for Liverpool before Federico Chiesa, who had hit the post and gone close on two other occasions, finally scored in injury time.

Ultimately, Arne Slot’s side got what they deserved in the end, finishing the game with an xG of 2.93, compared to Accrington’s 0.24.

Despite being eight-time winners, Liverpool have won the FA Cup just twice in the last two decades. Slot will be hoping for a deep cup run to go along with their impressive performances in other competitions.

Liverpool now head for a trip to the City Ground against Nottingham Forest as the top two in the Premier League face off in midweek.

Accrington, meanwhile, suffer their first third-round tie defeat in the competition, having progressed to the fourth round on all four previous occasions. They face Notts County in League Two next Saturday.
