With only three rounds left of the season, to make up ground on your mini league rivals, Fantasy Premier League managers may need to think outside the box this week.
And there’s no better way of making large gains than a differential captain choice.
Mo Salah, Alexander Isak and Bryan Mbeumo will all be popular choices again, but these players are worth consideration too.
Gianni’s FPL Gameweek 36 Captain Differential Picks
Yoane Wissa – Brentford
Yoane Wissa is criminally under-owned (18% of teams) by the FPL community.
With 34 points in his last four Gameweeks, he’s flying right now and his team, Brentford always top the charts for big chances.
The Bees are chasing down a European spot and if they win their remaining three games against Ipswich, Fulham and Wolves they will likely get one.
Brentford have a great record against the newly promoted teams where Wissa averages over nine points per match.
The template front three is Isak, Mateta and Marmoush and there is an argument to hold all three, but if I was a betting man I would have Wissa to outscore all three in the run in.
Arguably, swapping out Mateta for Wissa this week would make the most sense despite the Frenchman’s good match up versus Spurs.
The FA Cup distraction and no 90-minute guarantee for Mateta would be enough to force my hand.
Kevin de Bruyne – Manchester City
Kevin De Bruyne was my captain last week and there is every chance I give him the armband again this time round.
City will bully Southampton and De Bruyne is playing often as the most advanced attacker on the pitch.
A start isn’t guaranteed (Pep’s going to Pep) but an injury free De Bruyne against a poor defence is an exciting prospect with a high ceiling.
He effectively playing for a contract with so many suitors interested in the Belgian there is a huge incentive to keep his performance levels high.
Not forgetting he will want to bow out at City with goals and assists aplenty.
Chris Wood – Nottingham Forest
Chris Wood is the forgotten man in FPL this season.
His ownership has drastically fallen in recent weeks along with his form but the Leicester game provides managers with hope.
There is no better match up this week and Wood, who used to play for the Foxes will fancy his chances of getting back to goalscoring ways this weekend.
Question marks over Nottingham Forest’s ability to create big chances won’t go away but if there was ever a defence that will give you opportunities, it’s this Leicester back line.
