Following a mixed debut performance for the British and Irish Lions, Henry Pollock says he ‘relishes’ having a target on his back.
The 20-year-old Northampton and England starlet exploded onto the world stage last season.
A true Lions bolter, Pollock had barely played a senior match before the start of 2024/25.
But after nailing down a starting shirt at Franklin’s Gardens, the back row forward tore up in both the Premiership and Europe for the Saints.
His performances earned him a senior England call-up, and two tries on debut against Wales in the Six Nations had many calling for his inclusion with the Lions.
Those calls were answered when Lions head coach Andy Farrell named his squad.
But when it looked like Pollock-mania would never stop, Argentina delivered a speed bump.

Henry Pollock Lions Debut Doesn’t Follow Script
As the youngster came off the bench for the Lions in Dublin, his excitement was evident.
Pollock made some strong carries and looked lively, almost making a break with his trademark short line near the ruck.
But his overall performance mirrored that of the Lions as a whole.
Some flashes of brilliance inter-woven with a few errors and teething problems.
Critics were quick to point out Pollock’s missed tackle in the build up to one of Argentina’s tries.
🗣️ "One missed tackle by Henry Pollock, which led to a brilliantly finished try for Argentina, does not mean Pollock has a weakness in that area."

And it was the 20-year-old who was stripped of possession in the last play as the Lions looked for a late winner.
However, blame for the Lions’ 28-24 defeat does not lie with Henry Pollock.
But whenever a young English player sticks their head above the parapet and shows some personality, they find themselves the target of abuse and vitriol as soon as anything goes wrong.
Pollock ‘Relishes’ Having Target On His Back In Australia
This isn’t something that appears to bother Pollock, though.
Speaking to RugbyJoe via social media, he explained that to him, being targeted is just a part of the game.
Pollock said: “I’m looking forward to it. I kind of relish those situations and live for those moments where people want to target me.
“Bring it on.”
Asked if he’s practiced any responses to give to the Aussies down under, Pollock joked: “My accent needs a bit of work because it’s howling.”
Pollock has developed a reputation for viral try celebrations, something he was also asked about.
In response to a question about any celebrations in Australia, he kept his cards close to his chest.
“Potentially there’s some [new celebrations] on the table, but nothing that I can tel you on the air. You’ll have to wait and see,” added Pollock.

What School Did Henry Pollock Go To?
Born on 14 January 2005, Henry Pollock attended Beachborough Prep School in Westbury, Buckinghamshire before getting his secondary education at Stowe School.
A member of Northampton Saints academy since under-13s, Pollock also played youth rugby for Buckingham RFC.
He captained the Northampton under-18s to the Academy League final in 2023.
Pollock became Northampton’s youngest senior try scorer in the professional era in October 2022.
He signed his first professional contract in 2023, making his Premiership debut in the East Midlands Derby against Leicester Tigers in November.
In 2023-24, he also spent time on loan with Championship outfit Bedford Blues.
Having played a huge role in England under-20s successful Six Nations campaign in 2024, Pollock was invited to train with the senior squad.
England then recalled Northampton youngster Pollock during the 2025 campaign after an injury to Tom Curry.
He made his senior international debut in the final match against Wales, scoring twice as a replacement.
